I hear you Dspin...I'm not going anywhere without my fur baby!

The biggest concern for us is the water and wind damage. The ground is so saturated already that it makes trees topple easily. We're expecting 50-70mph winds locally so I'm sure we'll lose power, possibly for several days. We're supposed to start seeing the winds early Sunday morning, then getting stronger thru the day. Sunny skies Monday.

We don't have a generator but at least we have a gas cooktop and several ice chests :)

Just got an update from the brother in law in North Carolina. He is exactly where the huricane hit first. He said and I am quoting "it was a non event" he got rain and it got windy, but it was nothing to write home about. Keep in mind this is coming from a surfer born and raised in flroida. When Andrew hit he ran out to surf!

Mayor Bloomberg just said that "the time for evacuation is over" and added that there are now tornado watches for the 5 boroughs. So if it is not one thing or another. He even said there are tornado watches in Rockland county where I grew up. I lived there 18 years and never once did we have a tornado!

And on a positive note for you New Yorkers... Bloomberg also told us that you live in the greatest city in the world! So that is something...

I hope everyone is staying safe. At least this storm is fast moving 80 mph, she may be ripping up the coast, but at least she isn't crawling. I came across this and thought I would share it, it made me laugh (not at the storm but at the nutty people in this world)

Hey everyone thanx for the well wishes for me & Lox :). I worked all weekend didn't get madated to stay. It's still raining pretty steady and gusty winds 20-35 mph, Not bad. Lox got to stay home and not go to my friends. My friends girlfriend came downstairs and stayed with him today. We have some flooding and power outages and a few trees down around. We got lucky, real lucky

Stay safe. Hopefully it won't be too bad once it reaches us. I have friends in NYC that said things are ok there, just a lot of rain but nothing serious.

I thought my BIL was just being the "cool surfer" but it does sound as if, it is just a lot of wind and rain and tree debris. Nothing like what we saw after Andrew when we went to volunteer! Problem with this one is, it is heavy wind and rain all the way up the coast, so it will be VERY expensive. If it just hit in one area like an Andrew, it would be a "non event" to quote the BIL.

Kellie, we were posting at the same time. Glad to hear you and Lox weathered the storm! My thoughts were with you all weekend. 20 - 35 mph winds are not bad at all. We get 50 - 60 mph winds here in our little valley at least once a week. Can't tell you how many times I find things from deck in the lake! Stay dry and spend some lovin' time with Lox as soon as you can!
