Have a question for anyone here that isn't exactly ECB related, and more about gear. But as I have some reviews as well, I'll bold my question in this post.
Back on post #272, I noted flavors in my latest batch. Believe it or not, I'm not even halfway thru that order, and as post #281 notes, I got this order (of around 100 ml) in early December.
Anyway, here is my review of 3 flavors that are new for me:
Kettle Corn (XF, 50/50) - not quite as sweet as I was anticipating, and at first didn't care for it. It grew on me, and I started to like it. Though I want to like it more, and currently not sure how that happens. It tasted to me like a slightly burnt popcorn with a tinge of caramel on it. Which after having lots of real kettle corn, isn't way off base from describing that flavor, but I would say the vape was more like kettle corn mixed with tobacco. Again wasn't expecting that type of taste, yet started to like it.
Spearmint (DXF, Sw, 50/50) - Had this steeping for over 2 weeks, and like Kettle Corn, based just on the aroma, I was so highly anticipating it. Also like Kettle Corn, I was expecting sweet, like spearmint gum, or really anytime I've ever had spearmint in my life. Am on day two with this vape, and is so far borderline disgusting. Was at a small party last night and all I can say is I'm very glad I had back up, otherwise, I may have not vaped at all and gone to smoking. Yeah, that's how disgusting this flavor was. Tried it again the next day (today) and about the same thing. My specific experience - it is not sweet even a little bit. I can taste the spearmint, but barely and the mint in there reminds me of actually eating a mint leaf from a garden. As in, I can taste dirt and leaves (whatever those taste like), plus a hint of mint. Which is far cry from what I was anticipating. Boo hoo for me. LOL. Anyway, I went back to ECB's page to check on things, and saw warning specifically for Spearmint that reads, "DO NOT USE SPEARMINT WITH POLYCARBONATE TANKS, including the PC/PP versions." It also notes some customers have not had issues at all. I've had other flavors that allegedly will crack PC tanks and am yet to experience that in my 2 years of vaping, even with flavors that for sure are supposed to do that. I am told by vendor that currently supplies my clearos that they use the 'newest plastic' which has overcome problems of cracking. So curious if what the vendor is saying is accurate, or if vendor is stretching the truth (and that all plastics are subject to cracking)? My bolded question, will a polycarbonate tank somehow change flavor, especially if vendor is noting that such plastics may be of concern with their flavor?
And after that long rant, I would say that after 1 day, I still find the vape not very good, but vapeable. I'd like to learn something from any other ECB fan on what I might do differently to make the spearmint sweeter, but feel extra flavor and added sweetener is not the solution.
Vanilla Cola (XF, 50/50) - I've been of fan of other cola vapes from ECB and this one is added to that list. Had it for first time last night (at small party mentioned above) and erased any thoughts I was having about wanting to have a smoke. As I drink my share of soda, and was last night drinking vanilla coke, it was interesting interesting to compare the flavors. As usual, the real flavor (in the drink) is hands down better, but mostly cause carbonation is just not something that will likely ever be captured in a vape. I've had another vendor that came close to capturing that, but alas that vendor went away from that formula and I've been chasing it ever since. ECB's vanilla cola though taste more like regular coke to me. Only a slight hint of cream/vanilla, but enough that I do like it. And as you can tell from my other reviews, I tend to like a flavor more in a couple days which only bodes well for this vape. I'd get this again, but as I'm still explore cola/soda vapes at ECB and chasing the fizzy flavor from any vendor that sells cola, I won't likely be in any hurry to get vanilla cola again.
