Hello there ECFers. I am ready to get an upgrade. I've decided on 2 that appear to fit me nicely. The Echo & Ego models. I can only get one, so I need help deciding. Can anyone with experience with 1 or both of these please share.
Please no Darwins or other pricy devices. I like the price of the Echo & Ego :)

Whats important to me in order of, importance :)

Taste
Battery Life
Benefits of Manual vs Auto
Vapor, it does not have to fill the room and throat hit it secondary to taste.

My vape pace is medium. 2-3 times a day 1 hour per session, sometimes less.

Please help guys, thanks.

I would look into a Darwin, the battery life...JK. I personally would go Riva from Hoosier E-Cigs. The voltage is higher than the ego and they really sing with a Boge 2.0 carto or a 1.7 ohm Smoketech. I think they even have a dual coil set up as well. I also like the Boge Lea, I got just the battery for 16 dollars the other day. It charges via Mini USB. I have had many ego's and I think they are better than the Echo.

Goggling for an Echo myself I come across you posting this LOL. Wile I like my ego's I'm looking for more.
What I'm looking for:
* 4.2 V (my sweet spot) even it it's shot life on a fresh charge. long batt life, 1300 mah should cover this.
*510 connection. can live with 808
*Auto driven (a wish really)
*on/off clicking. love to not have misfires in my pocket or purse.
*and lastly I have no need for LR hovering at just under 3.0 ohms

From what I'm reading on Google the Echo is for me?
If you find a Echo pro let me know. Vape on! And Welcome to ECF!

Just found this hope it helps.

Thank you for staying on topic and sharing your experience. I am impressed with the auto function the Echo has with a larger capacity battery. From what I have found you can get Ego's anywhere. The Echo's are hard to find. There is one store I know of that has received positive reviews and they have a number to talk to a real person, this is a plus for me, my 1st PV purchase online will be from a store that actually has customer service. Since you know what you want check it out ECHO KITS : Cropduster901!, Home of the B-52
Right now I want to get some feed back from users of the devices before I decide. I've read a lot of reviews and notice that there are people promoting their store, or fans of a store helping promote them. Although this is not always a bad thing its hard to know if I'm receiving a purely objective view based on experience. I've found 3 store in my state that have customer service, I will be buying from them when I decide. Right now I would please just like to here users experience with the devices. Thank you again for doing that Adrena.

Oh, I forgot to add something. Many have confirmed that Boge 510 Low Resistance Carts are really good. They are using them on 650mah-1300mah devices and getting good taste and TH.

Don't know if it will help you out or not,
my background is pretty broad with devices ego's,riva's, small kr808's both old and new, leo, box mods, 5v box mods, 5v passthroughs...vv..mechanical mods
have used boge LR, boge SR, original joye 510 cartomizers, kanger 808's, ce2's, the new bloog style 808's, ego t tanks, 306/901/510/801 attys in various resistance from various places.

I have really liked boge cartomizers @2ohm (that is the LR ones) on a 3.7 battery...its just a good vape, for me, it provides the right amount of warmth, for me. So a boge on a real 3.7 battery is good. I also love these echo dual coils on the automatic echo battery...I was NOT that impressed with the smoketech dual coils on an riva or mod battery, I honestly am not sure what the difference is between the 510 and the echo ones but I like the echo ones yet never reordered the smoke tech 510 ones.

I am sitting here going back and forth between my boge 2ohms on a Riva and the Dual Coils on the echo, with nitelite 60/40 bounty hunter juice in both and I think I really prefer the Echo Dual Coil cartomizer. I prefer the Boge over the single coil echo cartomizer that comes with the Echo kit but when it comes time to order more I think I will be getting more of these Dual Coils for the echo.

That being said the Boge cartomizer is a good vape, I have been using that set up for over a year now and, other than dripping now and again for testing new flavors, its primarily what I use.

I would say on warmth they are the same, flavor is the same on both maybe slightly better on the Echo dual coil, vapor production...with this juice...is huge on both. Capacity is obviously higher on the Echo..a lot higher... so you refill less.I find myself having to refill the echo once a day the Boge felt like once every two hours So having used both, and using both right now to compare, I am going to say if it was my money (heck it is my money) the Echo wins by a nose.

If you have to have a manual the Boge is obviously a good choice. I have used manuals a long time though and really have been greatly enjoying the echo auto with dual coils. I had an echo a few months back, before they had dual coils out and it was ok but not good enough to replace any of my current stuff...these are just enough of an improvement to make me stop ordering boge cartomizers and move over to the echo ones.

got my Echo at North West Vapors. Electronic Cigarettes
get my Boge at Welcome to MadVapes LLC
everything else came from all over the place.

hope some of that helps.

edit: forgive the rambling nature of the post and capitalization errors just kind of wrote it as it came.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!

I have a question about the Echo. Some say they prefer a manual battery because it is sealed. Auto Batts have a opening leading to the battery that senses when you take a draw and ejuice can get down there and burn your battery. Is the Echo sealed and automatic? If not, how does it keep from getting juice leaking into the battery? Ok thats 2 questions :)

The echo carts are really well designed. Once they are filled and the juice settled in, they rarely leak. They are the least drippy cartos I have ever used.
I have a kgo too. I mostly use it in the evenings or first thing in the morning when I want a good blast of warm vapor and throat hit. And I use it for dripping and testing flavors due to the sealed battery. The echo is what goes with me for the day because I know the carto will last all day without needing to be topped off or swapped out. Flavor is really good and I use the auto function to toke on it like a cigar. Flavor is really enhanced that way.
There is no sealed auto battery. Some are drip protected which makes them much harder to get juice into the battery by the occasional drip of liquid. Echos are moving this way but you will have to ask your supplier because chances are the three or four that stock them regularly will have both in stock.

After the information shared by the good members here on the Echo & my personal research into the Riva, I'm narrowing it down. I recently heard about the Firefly by Liberty Flights, it looks good with all the bells and whistles, but cannot find much info on it. The battery indicator option is nice and the tanks according to 1 review are good. What I would like to know is if the flavor is good on the Firefly.

What Charlz said,
Leaking on an autobattery is only a problem with a bad cartomizer (the clearomizers can leak for instance) or if your trying to use an atomizer...I have other things to use atomizers on I wouldn't even attempt it on an auto but its not something I worry about with the echo cartomizers at all. I suppose if I wanted something smaller to test out juice on, and I didn't have all this other stuff, I would use a standard kr808 cartomizer. You said you already had something maybe that could be used to test out juice before putting a full 3ml in an echo carto.

Edit: just saw your newest post the firefly is just another 510 model with a nice battery indicator light and um..flashlight mode...other than that, and in the most important part how it vapes..its the same as KGO/Riva/neo/tornado/inferno

I was looking into the Riva. Since the Firefly has a battery indicator & uses tanks those are pluses I like. The price is around the same as the others I was looking at. I have a lot to think about :)

Buy the battery you think you'll like. It has nothing to do with the end result you are looking for. There's a slight difference between a standard ego running at 2.4v vs a Riva and Echo running at 3.7v. It's the hardware you put on top that will make your experience enjoyable. The mega coils and lr cartos put out massive vapor but less flavor. Folks who were hard core smokers tend to lean toward warm vapor. I like flavor so I stick to standard resistance cartos. (Anywhere from 2.5 to 3.0ohms.) Standard resistance cartos put out less heat and more flavor. I choose a 3.7 volt battery because I can get the most out of any hardware on the market.

That is what I am looking for most; Flavor. I used to smoke cigars and pipe tobacco and even then I could care less about the "Burn". For me it was all about flavor. I'm not talking about the cheap flavored wannabe cigars, but good cured tobacco. It appears that so many focus on vapor production. What I realized is that it does not have to fill the room. It just has to give good taste. Heat can take away from that. So LR's give less flavor? How about tanks?

Tanks come in lr and standard. Look for cartomizers in the 2.5 ohm and up. Standard resistance is 2.8 to 3.0. Some cartomizers mute flavor due to the filler. Clearomizers are good because they have no filler but can be leaky. The echo carts are the best big carto I've used as far as flavor and the dual coils turn up the heat a little without killing flavor. Atomizers are the best on flavor but the seperate cartdriges hold very little juice. Most people drip on an atty and it gives amazing flavor but you can't do that with the auto echo batteries. That's why I have a kgo.

edit: If you liked your cigars, I would push you toward the echo over the kgo for reasons I have mentioned. I toke on it like a good cigar and pipe and the flavor really comes through. Vermillion River and Highbrow vapor have really good cigar/pipe type flavors. vermillion river's kentucky blend is light on flavor but you really get a great aromatic lingering taste on the exhale.

I used Echos for a while and liked them very much, but I eventually ruined them by using cartos other than the ones they were built for and getting juice into the battery. The echo cartos have great flavor and an easy draw, probably a good choice if you're not all about the throat hit. They're horizontal coiled and the center tube is slightly bigger than a standard carto.

The auto feature is fun too, feels like you're puffing on an electric stogie...:2cool:
