Hi there. I am new here.

I started vaping recently because it is healthier than using analogs and to save money since, with ejuice, it is far cheaper than buying cartons of cigarettes. I also hope that it might eventually lead to me quitting smoking.

But every once in awhile I get the urge for an analog. Not often. I went from about 12 packs a week to less than 2.

But I read on a different forum that doing this may put me at risk of nicotine poisoning. Does anyone know if that's true. I like vaping enough that I can give up analogs. I think it's just the habit of having one occasionally that I haven't kicked completely.

Does anyone else use both?

Thanks in advance.

There are people on here who smoke occasional cigarettes. Nic OD is pretty obvious. Have you ever, as a smoker, smoked too many cigarettes and got dizzy or got a headache or felt nauseated? If that happens, you know you need to set down the PV or cigarettes for a bit. Chainsmokers don't worry about overdosing on nicotine. It happened all the time when I was a smoker. Why worry about it with the PV? It's really no different. If it really bothers you, lower your nicotine level in your e-liquid so you feel better about it.

I used both for about 6 weeks with no issues anything like nicotine poisoning. The more I vaped the less I wanted to smoke, so perhaps it evened out for me. If you start feeling symptoms of nic poisoning, though, common sense should dictate easing back a bit on either or both.

One thing I did have to do, though, is reduce my nic level in my juice. The psychological habit of smoking is still there for the most part and I tend to chain vape and I my heart was acting wonky. Once I backed it down everything was cool.

You can easily OD on nicotine. I get extreme headaches right behind my eyes. I did it with 4 mg nicotine gum, (3 pieces in one hour) and I can do it by chain vaping high power juice. The solution is to stop chain vaping when the headache starts, or just slow down. You can control your intake of nicotine easily enough.

I wouldn't worry so much about poisoning so much as the symptoms of having too much nicotine in your system. They aren't pleasant, that's all. You would definitely know if that's the case - the common symptoms are headache, nausea and palpitations.

Even as a smoker, poisoning would take a lot of cigarettes: Nicotine poisoning - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you're vaping and you experience these symptoms of toxicity, cut back on the chain vaping, or cut down on the mg in your ejuice. I can't vape 18mg - it gives me a headache.

Like any other substance you consume, moderation is key!
You can have some alcohol in your system which you may enjoy the effects of, too much, which will have negative symptoms, and then there's WAYYYYYY too much which could result in poisoning. The same goes for caffeine. Know your body and know the signs, and you will be fine.

I think a lot of us on here eased off cigarettes and/or still have one occassionally. Nicotine poisoning shouldn't be much of a concern unless you are heavily vaping liquid with a strong nic concentration. If you were at 12 packs a week, you had a pretty high baseline to begin with, and can probably take quite a bit of nicotine in your system before having problems. If you are worried about it, just don't vape for a bit before or after having a cigarette. Eventually those cigarettes will start to taste AWFUL! :vapor:

It was on a different forum on this website. The person who wrote said that smoking even a few analogs while vaping would put your life in danger. I had heard of people doing it, but I wanted to be sure. As I said, I don't have many analogs at all compared to before but if it were dangerous, I would cut them out completely.

Really, someone around here said that?
Well, that person doesn't know what they are talking about.

There is no way your life will ever be in any (immediate) danger from smoking cigarettes, vaping, or any combination thereof.
Too much nicotine will make you feel horrible, which will cause you to stop LONG before your life is even remotely close to being in any danger.

The first week I started vaping I had the same concerns as you, actually maybe more because I used to smoke 10 cigs a day, and suddenly I was just vaping all the time!. On my third day, at night I just feel so woozy and I stopped. I did a little research and notice I was vaping 18 ml nicotine which is not at all recommended to someone who smoke the amount of cigs I did. Now most of my nic is 6 ml and I tend to have a few 0 nic juices around just to cut the level even more. My advice, lower your nicotine level, that way you can vape at your heart's content. In my fourth week, I still sometimes chainvape (especially when I get a new flavor) but I tend to slow down as the ejuice's flavor gets "old". Believe me, your body will tell you when you need to stop. Good luck, I hope you feel more confident now.
