When I first tried blu two years, I didn't like it and went back to analogs. A month and a half ago, I picked up the blu Plus+ tanks and (maybe because the nicotine is higher), I was able to give up analogs cold turkey after 30+ years. For me, it was pretty easy to fight the urge to pick up an analog the first few days, and now I have no urges at all. I find it a little too "convenient" to pick up an e-cig though, so I find myself vaping more often now.

Try picking up an NJoy King disposable cig-alike which closely resembles the experience of smoking. Unfortunately, they are far too expensive to use long term. NJoy Kings have very high nic with the weight and form factor being very similar to a cigarette right down to the soft tip. That may be enough to trick your mind into thinking you are having a cigarette instead of vaping. Vaping is a different experience than smoking so psychological tricks can often be quite helpful in transitioning from cigarettes.

Also, I noticed you are in Michigan. If you are close to Ahlusion it would be more than worth a trip for juice. They make the vast majority of their own flavor bases so their juices aren't similar to other vendors' offerings and they are mixed superbly.

I was a dual user for about three weeks until I got it into my head that I'd already spent "a lot" (o.k. I thought it was a lot at THAT time) on e-cig gear and juices and I didn't want to keep "wasting" money on cigarettes.

Fast forward almost a year, and I haven't touched a cigarette since March. I do vape a LOT more than I smoked (I was about PAD menthol lights), but I don't have the stench of a cigarette nor do I have the gunk in my chest that I'd cough up every morning.... You're only having an occasional cigarette - eh, your choice. If you REALLY want to get away from the real thing, try to figure out what the allure of the analog is. I have thought about lighting one up on LOTS of occasions, but I'm not willing to buy a pack (I do NOT like non-menthol cigs, so I don't even have anyone to bum one from.)

Find your nirvana....

I was a smoker for 24 years. I used 18 mg nictone and had to play around with a lot of different tanks/juices before I found a combo I liked. Mentally, I was so done with analogs 6 months before I actually gave them up and was a dual user for close to a year before finally breaking the smoking habit. It's been almost 7 weeks without a cigarette, which has partially been way easier than other methods I tried and partially difficult since my husband is still smoking them. I switched to 12mg 4 weeks after quitting. So if you are still partaking in the analogs, don't be too hard on yourself. When you are fully ready, you can do it. Good luck!

Hi not sure if this helps but I started on 24 mg nicotine and initially made the mistake of not sucking on my ego type vaporiser long enough so it wasn't even getting going properly by the time id stopped sucking on it. I find you need to suck on it 5/10 seconds into your mouth then draw it down your throat, about 5 seconds does me now . I think lots of people do this when they try vaporisers then give up as its not satisfying enough. just my 5 cents worth

Lots of great advice here! Thanks everyone. I'm going to get either a 16 or 24mg juice. What blend of PG / VG would be good for the Atlantis do you think?

When I was buying juice, I was getting 50/50. I think I read somewhere that the Atlantis might "struggle" with higher than 70V. (I use mostly Kanger PT2 or Subohm tanks.) It is said that you'll get more throat-hit and flavor from higher PG. Truth be told, I don't know if I could tell the difference. I DIY now, and was heavier on the PG until I changed my unflavored base (PG-based flavors and 50/50 unflavored base). I am still trying to land between 50/50 and 30p/70v, depending on which base I now use. With the cold temps, I'm having a wee bit of difficulty with the higher VG wicking well when I'm outside. Indoors - no matter. Try a couple different blends (of same flavor, if you want to do a good comparison) Some folks can't tolerate higher PG because of allergies; some folks can't tolerate the higher VG because of other breathing problems....

ETA - I want "thicker" clouds on my Subtanks, so I'm tending toward higher-VG in my newer blends.

You might also want to consider a couple different nic levels of the same flavored juice. If the higher is too high, you can cut with lower nic of the same flavor (or, you can get some unflavored PG or VG and cut (realizing you'll diminish flavor and nic levels both)

Forgive my rudeness - I forgot to welcome you in my earlier post! Sooooooooooo WELCOME!

Honestly, I'm not sure. I'm not having nic fits or anything like that. It just feels weird to not do my usual routine of going outside to have a cig. Wife told me I should take the vape outside and vape like I would a cig, lol

That's actually very good advice. For a while after I quit, everytime I got on the phone, I'd have to go outside and vape, I was so used to going outside to smoke while talking on the phone. And even after nearly 7 months without a ...., sometimes I still get "itchy feet" and go outside to vape -- not too much lately though, it's so dadgum cold out there, so I just get up from my desk and wander around the house vaping. :D You didn't mention what sort of flavor(s) you're using -- I've mostly moved away from tobacco-type, I prefer sweet fruity bakery stuff, but when one of those "urges" hits me, I grab up my DIY Smoky Cappucino -- it's not much like a cigarette, but the smokiness kinda hits the spot, when that spot wakes up and pokes me. :D

But really, no need to stress about it. It sounds like you've already cut way down, so harm reduction is already working -- eventually the old habit dies as the new habit replaces it, and it goes away on its own. Mostly now I just can't be bothered to get up and go somewhere else just to vape. :D I can do that right here! :D

DingerCPA, thank you.

One other question, is it safe to go 18mg on Atlantis? I've read in other threads that when sub ohming, you should lower the nic to avoid getting sick. Now I'm confused!

I honestly don't know the answer to that. I have seen where so many others cut their nic levels when they're dripping, but I think that's because the vapor is more intense (without a chimney through which to draw it.) Some comment that as their ohms go down, they also take the nic level down.

"Safe" is in your definition. I have seen where some folks are sub-ohmming with higher nic levels, and they're tolerating it fine. Personally, I've never even hit a juice that was above 12mg/mL Most of my DIY is anywhere from 4-10ish. But, I tend to chain-vape. Only had one time (last summer - extremely hot outside) where I got a little nauseous. Just set it down for awhile and drank some water. Took a bit, but I did feel better.

Good Luck

Mainly it's about the resistance of the atomizer -- lower resistance nearly always means more heat, which is why you need more airflow, to prevent dry hits, keep the coil cooler -- and that nearly always means *more* vapor; also, a lot of really low-ohm or sub-ohm vapers, with that massive airflow, take deep lung hits, which also gives you more nic per hit. When I started using a 1.4Ω coil instead of 1.8Ω, I had to drop from my usual 10.5mg, to 9.5mg; when I started using rayon instead of cotton in that 1.4Ω coil, I had to go down to 9mg. You can usually tell within just a few hits if it's too much, it makes your head spin; if you ignore that, next up is usually sharp stomach pains and/or nausea, with worse stuff after that. Nic OD is usually very far from subtle!

As a guy who is 40-41 days in, you need to bump up your nic level or increase your vaping session time to get the amount of nic you need.

In my experience, those cravings for a cigarette were huge! but with the right amount of nicotine it gave me time to tame and forget about that urge at that time. Keep at it and as time goes on, the strength of those urges will get less. For me, the key period was between 30 to 35 days, I went through some odd things as my body let go of the toxins. Now, I finally feel that I am in control. That is not to say I do not get urges, I surely do but they are easily satisfied with a vape....and this could just be my age but I also forget just because I am distracted and forget. ;)

Keep at it and hang in there. Do not beat yourself up for having a smoke. Heck, I want one now just writing about it but as soon as I am done typing this I'll go vape...or forget to vape ;

You taught yourself to smoke how many years? It's going to take some time and some bumps in the road to teach yourself to not smoke.
