Long story made short:
A guy I worked with mentioned E-Cigs one day- I had never heard of them.
Did a little research and decided to give it a shot to see if it would help satisfy my 1 1/2+ pack a day smoking habit although I was NOT what you would call "convinced...."

Decided to throw some money to Amerismokes for two main reasons:
1) similar size and shape to Camel Wides
2) lab testing of liquids

Received the kit and found it to be.... not quite the same, but likely to feed the nicotine and "action" habits. Ordered a few more cartos and ended up with a couple of days where cigarette smoking was rarely an option. (I have been slowly moving towards vaping only, but still smoke some at this point.)
vaping definitely allowed me to get through those long days without the affects of withdrawal.

I WILL eventually end up quitting the smokes, but I still get... more out of that (addiction to other chemicals, most likely) than vaping.

Having done still more research online (here and elsewhere), I find that I do still like the e9 style ecig, though it has disadvantages. Like needing multiple batteries... And in my case, multiple sticks running at the same time occasionally- too much use and the cartos get hot and taste burnt even when full of juice! (Possibly a higher nicotine level would help....)

But I like the FEEL of the size. 30+ years of smoking, and that habit dies hard too.

So now I have 4 batteries and some cartos that I am refilling with a 40 flavor sample pack, and planning a few more purchases in the near future.

As a note: the main parts supplier I am using now is e-cig.com, in China. I have seen a few posts here about not being comfortable with their site for security reasons, etc.
I have made two purchases so far and WILL make more-
* the e9 batteries last longer, draw better and shut off faster than the Amerismokes versions. And they are cheap and come in a greater variety of options.
* cartos come in various colors and are cheap
* LOTS of flavors and different bases of juice (China though- quality has a bad rep generally)
*Orders over $100 USD have free shipping (just learned that one.)

I can't speak to how well the batteries last for either since I am pretty new to this stuff, of course...

My next purchases are likely to be a bunch of cartos to make SURE I always have some that work (after all they are supposed to be used once), a few more batteries to ensure that I can make a full day no matter how much I vape and possibly a PCC (though from another vendor.)

I have read and learned a lot of stuff here and it has helped out quite a lot, so I wanted to thank this place for being here and all of you for posting questions and answers for me to read.

I know I said this would be a long story made short.... you should see the LONG version!

A pretty good start...

Down to less than a pack of cigarettes a day, which for ME is good.

I have found myself in the same boat many other people have been in:
Got started with ecigs only to find that the first product I tried was less than sufficient.

I picked up a DSE801 a couple of weeks ago since the cartos of an E9 only last me a few drags before I start burning the fill. (Good vapor, some th but just doesn't LAST long.)

The DSE801 tastes better, batteries last longer and so do the cartridges.
BUT...
Carts still don't last long ENOUGH and personally, I am not looking at vapig as a hobby in of itself. The amount of time I spend messing with filling carts has just been too much.

However, the DSE801 has helped me reduce the other method of nicotine intake and left me in no doubt that this WILL work.

I have gone "whole hog" and bought a GGTS with AVS.
No carts or cartos, attys should last a good while as long as they don't get run dry and I should be able to vape for an extended period without messing with anything.

I just got the thing today (#992) and assembled it (with fuse and battery magnets) in about 15 minutes, filled it up and started to use it.

I think I am set now!

Sounds like your pretty well versed in this stuff already.

Have you tried flavors other than tobacco? I found that the tobacco flavors were just too similar to analogs for me. So i decided to jump in with both feet, and got a shipment of crazy flavors to sample. As it turns out, i liked 1-2 of those better than tobacco. Since then i didnt look back, ive been analog free.
