It was concluded by the United Health Organization, “In the short time that electronic cigarettes have become popular, the number of people who have been able to quit smoking and stay cigarette free has risen by an estimated 300%. No other methodology has proven so successful in such a short period of time.”

That's a fantastic statistic to keep handy. :)

Since it's an article actually in favor, I'd encourage members to comment with their own success stories. (Mine to be added after work.)

Nice find, thanks for sharing!

Don't get too excited. When you click on the link to "consumer reports" you get a fake page trying to sell Direct E-Cigs. The page looks legit, but when you click into a page trying to sell an overpriced product, with an article written by "Bonnie", you really have to stop and question the motives, and any statistics given.

This seems to have originated from this fake news e-cig ad on this page: Electronic Cigarettes: The Healthier Alternative to Smoking? and the original quote was attributed to the WHO (World Health Organization.) But I'm not aware of them ever saying that and I believe it's completely made up!

If you try clicking on the links at the top it's just a static banner - maybe a picture of a real site. But Google "Consumer Digest Weekly" and you get consumer complaint sites talking about the site being a scam for other products such as acacia berry and teeth whiteners.

Watch the video on the page I linked though - it seems to be a collection of real news reports on a local station in Florida.

Aww nuts. I don't usually fall for these either..
suckered.

Not so much focusing on this particular article but articles in general on the Net.
It's not always easy to identify commercial motivations for articles.

The primary focus of this forum is discussion of E-cigarette in the News articles.
However, "News" is a definitional word.

Many of the articles on the Net are really not "Breaking News"
articles written by news paper and magazine reporters.

The "Business" of E-cigarettes is now driving the market and
I would guess most articles on the Net today have a commercial
message and or links to commercial websites. Health may be
the story but money is the motivation.

If the only Pro E-cig articles on the Net were created by non-commercial
E-cigarette advocates, our movement would be in big trouble.
We are not well known for flooding the net with articles publishing
our side of the story.

So... Thanking our lucky stars the commercial interests in E-cigarettes
are pumping out volumes of Pro E-cigarette information.

I guess we have to continue to police ourselves by limiting discussions
to articles that are not commercial in nature. However, commercial
articles often contain some very interesting information that the public
finds of interest.
