OMG that is cute! But it looks like that dog is gonna eat it.

Where/how/why do you get these intriguing links Sci?

I love the moon and sun jars. Will have to mod me some of those!

When I read the link to my brother in the other room... he got all excited... then he learned it was the lower percentage of the definition of "chick" that was a robot you could buy. :D

I'm the "chick" who supplied the copper tape! Have a stained glass studio, copper tape is a staple around here. That tape I sent you, Connman, is silver backed. It's used for mirrors so you don't get a reflection of the inside of the copper. I can send you some straight copper if you think that would work better. I wrapped a bunch more around an empty teflon tape roll so you don't run out.

I have quite a box of stuff to send you, hoping you'll find some use for the odd collection of tins and electronic things I managed to scoop up as I was searching my endless stash of things. Guess I'm a packrat )

I love that Eclipse mint box! I have one of those in my nightstand that I might have to work on. Sending you a Jelly Belly shaped tin that you might find a mod for, along with a whole mess of stuff. Hope you don't hurt yourself falling down laughing when you look through the package!

Connman, take a look(not @ the crappy job I did flattening the lip:confused:).

I've got it sitting on a piece of 1/4" foam, an 18500 will fit on top with some room to spare. I've got a couple I've got to finish up, then I'm going to play with this one. I'll see if that board will fit sideways with an 18650 & leave room for the switches(don't know why I didn't think of that last nite.)

Hey connman! I just saw this thread today, and that mod looks great! How does it feel in your hand?

quasimod I think it really works and feels great in the hand. Fantastic weight as well. Over all I`m going to say one of the best mods I`ve held in my hand so far. Still playing around with that tin I just took apart and tried a different switch in it to see what it would feel and look like. I`ll put up a picture of that here shortly. I think you will be pleased with the way this thing feels in the hand. Just as you had thought originally.

I also added a magnet to help secure the Lid. Just a backup. I will have a picture up of that as well.

That foam sheeting looks ideal Sci. Thanks for that link. This mod really is working out well. Darn near hasn`t left my left hand.
Now you are working on what I was thinking last night. :w00t:
A booster. I think very good idea and would fit on the side as well. which if I do try this it`s where it would go.
I tried using wood to help not mark the lip when smashing it flat but it still shows some and I don`t think that can be stopped. But my 2nd one did come out better then the first so maybe the 3rd will be yet better. Then maybe the 10th would be perfect.

Any idea on what switch you are going to use? I`m still open to finding a better switch although I myself like this one but I know there is yet the perfect one out there somewhere.

great mod connman, the mint box sure looks cool.id stuff a juice feeder in there somehow.ha:glare:

Ut-Oh another juice feeder.
Well you would be happy to know there is room for it but would have to be really looked at what size bottle etc by a juice feeder modder like yourself or storminyte. Although I might fall victim to this sickness shortly as well.

I've got some of the regular thickness of those sheets also. I used the 1/4" for the one last nite so I could cut a hole for the component that sticks up high on the board. I was trying to get it as flat on the foam as possible.

Marking the lip a little doesn't bother me as much as bending the tin. I've got 3 more, those mints are good.:)

I'm going to try this switch(10x for $4.90-free ship) on a box with a camera battery & booster board.

The bottom comes off so you can place it flat if you want. If it works on that box, I'll use it on the tin. It's surface mount, so I'll have to cover up the legs on it with something, maybe putty.

First I`ll show you how I`m finishing this mod on the inside. I placed a foam chunk in along the battery which goes down to the switch and I cut it so I could place a magnet on it to help backup the lid snapping shut. I see no way the battery could fall out by accident now.

This is using a Flatter button type switch in search of a better switch?
