Excellent!

At this point skill sets and participation is the most valued contribution. Our organization charter needs to be written. I'll try to work up some starter text (it's always easier to build on something started) and we can evolve it from there.

Comments and opinions are needed most right now! See the other ECO threads in the "Campaign' category and weigh in! The sooner we can complete our charter, the sooner we can move to becoming a respected and solid voice for the users community.

The time for donations will come soon enough, and only after we've established a trustworthy accounting procedure and treasurer. The whole goal is to make this organization transparent and answerable only to the membership. I think it's vital that we do it (quickly, but) open and beyond reproach at every stage.

I voted for an international group. But! Incorporating in the US as a non-profit could be a conflict with an international group. I don't know this, just saying.....something to look in to.

____________

Good point and it's been brought up in other threads... I know Eric is working on the 501c and I have a CFO/MBA friend who has offered to advise with creating the organization from a legal and financial aspect.

It may very well be too daunting a task to start international. I should know better after I meet with him and will report back what he recommends.

I think an international expansion down the road might be ok, I am comletely all in for helping other countries fight for rights. After all many people worldwide would starve to death if it was not for our country. However, I think the gears need greased and set in motion here at home first...

I like both ATA and TAG. My only concern with the former would be that if (pardon me, when) we start grabbing national headlines, the ATA is commonly known as the Air Transportation Association and may be misconstrued as having something to do with the airline industry. Granted, the same argument can be used for just about any acronym, but the ATA does get a lot of press and I think we'd want to really stand out.

TAG (at least here in Oregon) is the acronym for Talented and gifted at the schools... Personally I like that one for the group...

I've got to admit, I've never cared much for the term "personal vaporizor" either and anything with the word "cigarette" seems counterproductive to convincing the general public that these ARE NOT cigarettes. "Alternative" seems to be a good word and leaves scalability for including other (future?) products.

I also agree, I never liked those ones either... but when I am telling people what it is that I am putting in my mouth... Electronic cigarette is about the only words that make them stop and say "Ohhhhh"

Just my 2 cents... it may suck... but people have to know what it is... and that discription is the best one ... imo anyway.

That said, it's a common joke in the marketing industry that most startups spend 80% of their time focusing on a catchy name and tweaking their business cards rather than focusing on their core product. Some very good points have been brought up and good names suggested. Whatever name we choose, let's do it fairly quickly and start concentrating on a charter and NPO status.

Time is of the essence my friends, how about someone posting a poll so we can select a name to rally around and move onto bigger issues?

AGREED WHOLE HEARTIDLY... lets get a move on folks (by the way, today is the first I even saw anything about this... and I am on here almost daily... I think it needs to be put in the general discussion also)
