HI- I have tried DIY before and was unsuccessful.
However, I think it was b/c I used PG. I can't stand the smell or taste of PG.
I really only like one flavor...EcoPure RICH.
I have a bottle of Ethyl Maltol ( although it is in PG base).
My question is..has anyone successfully duplicated EcoPure RICH flavor? It smells like Ethyl Maltol to me.
I would have to buy the Ethyl Maltol crystals and dissolve them myself. If they can't dissolve in VG then could I use Vodka? Also ...I can wait a long time for them dissolve if that is what it takes.
Has anyone dissolved them in VG?
Also...I would just like the flavor Ethyl Maltol.
DO you think that is possible...to make a VG base with just nicotine and Ethyl Maltol?

Please help as EcoPure is not in my budget.

Cotton Candy IS EM but not as strong a flavor as you can get by making your own. I bought the crystals from One Stop DIY recently and mixed some with PG and some with VG. The PG mixed quickly but the VG took a few days and a few second intervals in the microwave, but it worked. Good luck and don't give up this time. :)

BTW... Beautiful kitty you have there!!!!

Thanks for the input..., yes I was thinking that I needed a really strong EM flavor.
Probably stronger than what I could buy...hence I'll have to make it myself.
Glad it will eventually dissolve in VG.

That's Heidi in my avatar. She was a severely injured stray dropped off at the vet.
She has a lot of issues but I love her. Right now she's trying to get into the bathroom where I have a feral kitten in a trap. It's going to the clinic tomorrow to get spayed or neutered.
I take care of a feral/stray colony but get them all fixed, vaccinated, etc.
Actually I WOULD have money to buy Eco Rich if I didn't take care of all these homeless cats.
But then I would feel guilty. And the homeless population would grow.
Hence I have to be frugal and try DIYing again.

I can see Heidi's sensitivity in her eyes. Several years back I founded a non-profit animal rescue group and we did a lot of trap and release. In one year we spayed and neutered 900 ferals in our community. Ferals hold a special place in my heart so I applaud you! My health took a turn for the worse and I had to stop. It left me with a whole in my heart.

When you mix the EM in VG you can use 1/4 tsp for 10mLs and warm it to dissolve or you can double the EM if you use PG. If there are some crystals undissolved let them settle to the bottom and take what you need from the top then shake it again. I left it out so I could shake it often.

Thanks for the tip regarding the EM.

WOW...That's AWESOME that you were able to fix that many ferals!!!
You literally saved hundreds of thousands of lives!!!

Our city has a long way to go before becoming a no kill city ( still too many on death row).
But the numbers have been drastically reduced in recent years due to the low cost spay/neuter clinics.
I know that 2 cats in my boyfriends colony were fixed by someone else. They found his porch and were already ear tipped.
So that's exciting just knowing that someone else around me is doing it also.

Luckily we had a clinic not too far that was well-funded and they only charged us $20 for females and $10 for males and that included all the shots! The only thing I didn't like is they used a small hole punch in stead of the tip nip. It made me want to put an earring in the hole. LOL

If I can ever help you with DIY feel free to PM me. I may also have some extra flavorings I can give you so your money can go to help the kitties.

Thanks, that's very nice of you to offer to help me with my DIY needs. I have stuff left over from my last attempt so I just need to get the EM ( which is cheap) and the nicotine in a VG base.
I found a place that is having a 40% sale...I think it includes the nicotine so I am going to order from them.
I think it was gourmet vapor.

Yes we have a clinic that is really good and charges only $15 ( male or female and includes shots).
But I pay the extra $10 ( the Feral Plus package for $25) so they can get a deworming shot and flea treatment.
But they do have a discounted day once a month. $5 and $15 instead of $15 and $25.
I never manage to catch a cat for that day though.
Thanks again.

I applaud you sweet...and you also GD. I took in a homeless kitten 12 years ago....half blind, diseased, the runt and I spent a fortune on her (food injections, antibiotics, etc.). No one wanted her and a friend of mine who knew I couldn't turn her away (kitten's name is Sadie), brought her to me and said no one wanted her. She was so small, I had to feed her will a doll bottle with special food. She is still small, almost totally blind now, and I am in love with her. I never had a cat before so I was praying I was doing the right things and it looks like I have, she is healthy except for her eyes and she loves me as much as I love her. I hold her at night like a baby while watching TV. She is still small around 8 pounds but she eats like a pig (I told her she would never go hungry again..lol..and I meant it). My husband says I spoil her too much but what is too much...lol...Sadie and I nose kiss all the time. When it is time for her to go, I will be a basket case.

I got a soft heart for the homeless whether it be human or animal. It is sad. I work in a homeless shelter all winter and I leave in tears every night when we drive home (hubby comes also). Give with your heart and it will be returned tenfold.

Sandyk: Have you ever heard the quote " You can't change the entire world, but you can change one animal's entire world forever."
That's what you did for Sadie.
My boyfriend started feeding the homeless on his own. There is an Uplift truck that comes to the park a few times a week to give out food and necessities to the homeless. My boyfriend decided that he wanted to cook them a good meal once a week. He just cooks it in his kitchen ( is really picky about the quality of the food) and brings it to the homeless on Sat. He sits down with them to eat and just talks to them. He said most of them are really good natured. He really enjoys talking to them and cooking for them. He gave one of them a new coat last yr when someone stole it from one of them. Imagine that...stealing from the homeless while he was sleeping under a bridge. Anyway, you shouldn't feel sad. You brighten their day. Their world is better b/c of you.

Thank you both for the nice comments. It just gets to me that so many people in the United States are homeless and do not have food. The taxes we pay...ugh!! We have 2 1/2 acres of trees and 180 ft of waterfront with a small cabin for our summers (20 minutes away from our home). We are very fortunate but have worked hard all our lives to be able to do this when we retired. Did not go South because I want to be with my Grandsons and teach them about fishing and nature. We plan on expanding the garden at the cabin and hopefully reaping some crop for people in need. I am lucky that I have a husband who feels as I do.

By the way, I fish every day in the summer. I do not keep the fish. I put them gently back in. Once I killed one (swallowed the hook)..I didn't fish for a month after that....lol....I actually cried.

Sadie is my Angel and my best friend.

A gentler, fail-safe way to fish without hurting the fish (that you are not going to eat, that is) is to attach a clothes pin to line and put worm in clothes pin. Great fun. You get to actually see the fish nibbling off their breakfast/lunch/dinner and feel the tug and know that no hook will actually snag their little mouths or catch an eye.

:offtopic: I forgot to add that I use a bobber so the clothespin will stay closer to the surface and I get even more live-action entertainment. It's also quite fun casting out and does take special skills to not have your worm go flying away on it's own.
Stay tuned for second installment titled "Worms and Their Contributions to Society". lol

Back on topic: I love ECOpure Rich. It is remarkable with flavorings added.

You've probably figured this out by now, but ecopure rich is 4 ingredients: VG, Ethyl Maltol, Nicotine, water. You can dissolve the ethyl maltol in a little hot water(distilled). The ingredients are from their lab report. Take care!
