Just opened the battery compartment and noticed dried battery acid crumbs. I then looked at my batteries and noticed it was the 18650 with crumbs in and around the nipple. The gasket that holds the pin that connects the atomized might not be a complete seal. I have been wiggling it to get the pin up cause it was pushed down to far and I am wondering if the juice leaked in. Could that be the problem?

Its possible, though the juice would have to travel quite a way to hit the battery compartment. I have never heard/read of a lithium battery leaking. What color are these crumbs? I know on my ego charger, if there is any juice on the terminal on the battery I'll get a bit of blue/green crunchies on the charger's terminal.

Either way, keep a careful eye on the battery. Use your DMM to check the voltage after coming off the charger to ensure it isn't higher than ~4.2v, if the battery looks damaged in any way, or if it get unusually warm, discard safely and buy a new battery. It is easier to deal with a $9 battery than a battery gone thermal.
