Hey. I've seen a lot of similar posts but I havn't seen one addressing the specific model I have and I can't find anything anywhere else on the net. it's an ego 650 mah battery but it's not the one you find on joyetech's website for some reason. When I try to use it it just flashes. If I hold it long enough it will flash ten times and it is freshly charged. Any idea what's going on here? Thanks.

head on over to the library and read the 6 part intro, tons of good info

The ECF Library

Carto/clearo/ "head" is the thing you screw on your battery in the 510 connector

Welcome to the forum and vape On!

It could also be the center pin is pushed down too far, or the battery has been locked and a rapid 5 button press will unlock it

When you charge it, does the LED on the charger turn from red after a few hours to green?

Might not be charging (because center pin is pushed down to far?)

"Cart Clearo"? "An open"? I use a Kanger tank... not terribly familiar with all the terminology. It had been working fine for a week then this suddenly started happening.

Don't feel too bad--I don't either. :D

It sounds like the base of your atomizer doesn't make good electrical connection with the center pin of your battery.

Check the threads--are they clean? Any hardened juice on the threads? If so, clean the threads with a q-tip dipped in Isopropyl alcohol. Do you have a different head? A carto? Another clearomizer? Another coil? Does your battery work with them?

Do you have a multimeter? Probably not--your coil may be dead or fixing to die--no way to tell without a multimeter.

What I ment by open is perhaps you have an open circut. That is where the coil in your tank is not making a connection to the battery or its blown open ect. Center pin on the battery can get mashed down if you crank your tank on the battery. After you get your center pin back up where it makes contact with the center pin on your tank again. When you screw on your tank to the battery feel for when it makes contact then just turn it a tiny bit more. Some wabble is normal. I use a very small pen knife I have on my key ring and gently pry up between the inside of the battery connector and the center pin then move to the other side.you only need to move it up a mm or so. Dont break it.
Good luck.

Cartomiser: (carto) Metal tube with polyfil and a coil inside - the kind of thing often used on cigalikes. A tank with a carto(miser) in it is cart tank.

Clearomiser: (clearo) A clear tube with either metal or plastic end caps that holds the liquid which is wicked into the coil. Some look like a "tank" but it is never called that.

Open circuit: The wires don't meet where they should, no current can flow.

Actually most ego batteries that are short circuit protected will flash when they detect a short. I suspect that is what is happening here. Try a different Protank or carto, or replace the head in the one you are using.

BTW, a "short" is a short circuit. We don't normally just say "open" when we mean open circuit however. A short circuit just means that the coil is being bypassed by something and the resistance is not what it should be. The most common reason on a clearo is if there is a bit of wire sticking out the side of the center pin where it enters the grommet on the head. When tight, and especially when you overtighten the wire pokes out further and touches the negative pole, effectively shorting the battery out.

lol thanks. Trying to figure out what that meant was bugging the crap outta me. I appreciate the suggestion and if they won't fix or replace it I'll try that but I don't want to risk damaging it

I've been getting the 10 flashes thing too; on two different batteries today; 3 times so far; each time changing battery and putting flashing battery to charge.

The flashing battery was flashing 10 times in a row when I press the firing button once; apparently this is the code of dead battery needs charge.

And it was happening with the topper off too.

I leaking from the tank and water content in the liquid must have been causing the batteries to discharge.

My problem was a depressed pin as suggested above. I brought it back to the store I got it at and they fixed it for me because i was afraid to do it myself. It happened from tightening the tank down to hard on to the battery. If you think that could be your problem and your retailer won't help you there are videos showing how to do it on youtube.
