I am wondering whats happening with my wife's ego battery . When it was on the usb charger on the laptop it was so hot you could not hold it in your hand. Has anyone ever been through this? This is the second time it has happened and I don't know why. It happened about two weeks ago and it kind of scared me .Immediately i got an oven mit and took it outside.that was a silver ego battery 650mah .
after it cooled it's heels , I recharged it and it works fine. Today it happened again with a copper 650mah battery. I have two different chargers so i don't know which charger it was on actually.
This is not cool and I wonder why it has happened . Could it be the charger or is it the battery connection or what? The light was on red like it was charging both times.

This is not good! It sounds like there may be a short somewhere. You state that the light was red. If it was still red after several hours, and didn't go to green, then this means, I think, that the safety circuitry has fried, and the battery is being over charged. Regardless, a very hot battery is a very bad sign, and I suggest you get new ones. First they get very hot, then they can explode or catch fire. Perhaps another vet has other info about this, but I think you should just get new ones. Might not be a bad idea to get a new charger too, as they can get problems over time as well.

Good luck!
