Ego-C atomizers taste like butter...

I ordered an Ego-C for my girl. They sent me a bunch of free atomizers and a ton of cartridges with my purchase. I don't remember what vendor I bought it from though. The atomizers I got from them are covered in a strange white coating. I'm assuming it used to be primer but some how solidified. It smells and tastes like buttery maple syrup. I have never had an Ego C atomizer with a primer on it, it is always odorless and tasteless. The atomizers are clearly sealed, no tampering is evident, and they perform just fine. How ever I find it strange that this primer is like this, any one know what it is or has it happened to you?
