It's a known issue with some batteries for whatever reason. I have one battery in particular that does this. The light on the battery itself will turn off and the charger is orange. That means it's fully charged.

I am assuming some of these batteries have different circuitry that is somehow messing with the charger because a lot of people have reported this issue with various batteries and chargers. However, it doesn't stop the battery from charging.

I've noticed that after a couple charges, now I'm just worried that the red light still being on when the green is might mean that even after the charger knows the battery is charged it could still be sending charge to the battery causing overcharging, and maybe a fire??? I know somebody has experience with this, is it safe to leave unattended?

Not a good joke in anyway...

Not a joke. There really was a load of lithium-ion batteries in the belly of that plane. I saw a pilot on TV mention that lithium-ion batteries (in bulk cargo) are not allowed on passenger planes in the U.S. because they are too much of a risk. However, other countries are more lax.

Now that doesn't mean that's the cause of this crash (if there was a crash), but it's certainly a possibility.

I have acquired about 3 dozen of the ego style chargers and find about 1 in 10 have this or a similiar problem.

I think that since they are made by the thousands that they let a few weak ones get by.

I don't use the ones that act up like this.
