Does anybody know of any cheap connectors I can use to make a USB PT without tearing apart a new battery? I just started and am good with eletronics so I want to make a PT but have only found forums for making a 510 PT with coaxial connectors...I found some that looked close @ radioshack but wasnt sure. Would like to buy locally but if I must order online..I must...its cheaper than dropping $20 on one. I already ahve plenty of usb cords and buttons laying around....just need the connector. Also...that would make it 5V right? How much faster will that kill my atty?

Well you can use a standard 510 connector if you are careful, with the eGo/skirt type atties/cartos. Note almost all of it will have to exposed. Screw one onto an atty and see how much is left to work with (not much).

If you really want 5V with Joye atties you'll need about a 2.4A power supply.

I don't think you find anything at RS for a 510 thread.

The best USB cables are the ones that printers use, they tend to have slightly heavier gauge wires.

I have a custom built gaming PC.. Think its an Antec 750WATT its been awhile since I had it open but I think its wayyy above 2.5A. Nothing like a core2duo overclocked from 2.6 to 3.4, 8GB ram just to play Counter Strike and Garrys Mod lol...overkill

The power supply in the unit has little if anything to do with how much current is available at the USB ports. USB 2.0 spec says that 500mA (.5A) should be available.. which isn't near enough to vape off of. Some USB ports put out more.... but I've yet to see one that puts out over an amp.

Well that should work, but not through the USB port (as was noted). Pull out an unused molex connector and tap directly into the 5V line. I think those are good for about 5A.
