Hello! I am super excited about doing this review! I am sure that these Cartomizers (Cartos) have been discussed/reviewed/explained many times before, but I just got mine today, and I just filled my first blank one!

Ok, the description first. I ordered 3 blank cartos from thevaporroom.net (I get a lot of stuff from them). They were $3 each. These are the ones listed as Blank Joye eGo Cartomizers. They are round on one end, and have the "crimped" or flat mouthpiece on the other end. (That is my terms, not theirs - cause I don't know how else to describe it). They offer them in black and white - I got black cause 2 of my batteries are black.

This is my first ever cartomizer! I have read about them, watched videos about them, etc. I got them because, even though I normally drip, it is not always convenient. (Like while driving, or when I'm at a family members house). I "thought" I was ready for these, but when I got them, for some reason, I was thinking that they would be round on both ends, and that I could condom fill them. The design on these kinda caught me off guard. I do not have any needles! I have one syringe that I got for transferring juice from big bottles to little ones, but it has no "point" on the end. So, at first I was freaking, then I went back out to youtube, and sure enough, i found the answer to my filling questions.

So, to fill these puppies, all you have to do is take the plastic cover off the round end (the end where you can see the bottom of the fitting for the atty), fill up the little nipple (the part that is inside the carto when you first get it) with 3-4 drops. Slowly push the cap back onto the carto until it is all the way in. I set the cap flat on my desk, dripped the 4 drops in - it fills to the top - then I pushed the carto onto the cap - leaving the cap on the desktop the whole time. Slowly remove the cap, refill with 4 drops, slide it back on. Do this about 6 times (any more, and you will have the unpleasant experience of getting juice in your mouth on the first couple draws). ***Please keep in mind that other vendors have different "end covers," so this is for the kind that looks like a "nipple" on the side that goes into the carto.***

Now, I realize that isn't terribly scientific. When I did it the first time, I didn't even measure it. I went back, though, and measured, and found that about 24 drops = about 1ml - maybe a tad less. I know that every thing I read and watched indicated that you "can" get 2ml worth in one carto, but I would have had much unpleasantness with juice for more than 1-2 puffs if I used that much juice. So, you will have to play around with the number of drops and the number of "fills" to get that perfect amount to avoid sucking juice. I would guess, based on my experience, that it's around 24 drops. You'll know you've exceeded an adequate amount if juice leaks out around the condom after "plunging."

Ok, I got the carto full, I took 1 puff - ewwww, gag, spit, wipe my tongue on a paper towel, rinse my mouth out, ack. 2nd puff, only a tiny bit of juice, I'm ok, now I can focus on the vapor and flavor.

I used FSUSA French Toast, and now I am vaping it with nice flavor and, to my surprise, even MORE vapor than when I drip it! So, I'm all set to go to the cousin's house tomorrow, and when I visit the bathroom or have a moment alone, I'll be vaping with my carto on my RIVA eGo! Yay!

Below is a link to the page with the cartos - where I bought them. You may very well be able to buy these cheaper elsewhere, but, I haven't shopped around. TVR also did a tutorial video on filling the cartos - but they use the whole take the carto apart, use a syringe and needle, fill, put all the parts back - method. And, that may be the better method, but for me, not having a needle, the "condom" method worked! Also below, a link to the youtube video showing how to use the "cap" as the condom for this method.

Later, I'll come back and report on longevity, reusability, etc. For now, I got NO burnt taste, good juice flavor, and loads of vapor! I may have to consider this as my main vaping method! Thanks, and enjoy!

P.S. Please be gentle with your critiques - I do not claim to be an expert, I'm just reporting my findings!

tiger - you are probably right on that.

And, with that, here's my follow up report:

The initial use on the carto after filling it with the make-shift "condom" method I reported in the opening post was fine. I carried my RIVA eGo in my pocket on my trip, and I vaped about 20 or so puffs during the 8 hours I was away from home. I still found the vapor production and flavor to be quite wonderful. I had no leakage, and it fired up every time.

Now, the downside. After I got home, I vaped away on for another 10 puffs or so, and then I started getting that dry carto taste. So, I thought for fun, I would re-up using the condom method again. I put another 4 drops in the "cap" and pushed it up in the battery connection end. I did this 2 times - so about 8 drops. I let it sit for about 10 minutes, then fired it up. Nothing. I got no vapor. I thought I had killed it. So, I set it aside, and went about dripping a couple other flavors on a different eGo that I had set up. About an hour later, I hit the carto again just to see, and voila, it worked again! Kinda weird, but, meh. Who knows? After a couple puffs, it started leaking out around the two small cut outs where the carto meets the battery. Very messy. So, I wiped it off, took a couple more puffs, more leakage.

It still works fine - I'm still getting good flavor and vapor, but I'm having a leakage problem for sure. I did drip directly into the hole at the bottom (where the connection to the battery is). This also worked at refilling, but after 6-7 puffs, I had more leakage. So, last night I ordered a couple of syringes with 18g needles. I'm going to try that method next, once the order comes in.

So, the moral of the story is, you CAN fill and refill these cartos without a needle, but so far, I'm having leakage issues. I love the flavor and vapor, though, so I'll just keep puffing and cleaning until I get the needles. I'll report back on how that goes.

Just a quick update - I've been vaping pretty heavily on this one carto since last Thursday (5 days), refilling by dripping on the battery connection end (into the hole) about 10 drops when it starts running a tad dry. Still getting great flavor and vapor! When I get the syringe and new cartos, I'll try the syringe method for the initial fill, but the refilling method I'm using seems to be working well. :) And, again, $3 per carto (not counting coupon codes) is pretty decent!
