I have a kgo and I really like it, but you hear so much about ego I was wondering if they were better or something. I am thinking of getting a couple of guys I know a set up. First thought I would just get them the same as I have because I am happy with it but then started wondering about the egos, think Ill just stick with the kgos. Still wonder what the difference is, longer batt life, physically shorter? or?

Hi guys. Bullette the Kgo fan here.
Kgo battery is a Li-PO battery. According to battery university Li-PO batts are newer technology and more stable & safer than the Ego's Li-ion battery. Li-po batts have a longer life span before you have to throw them away.
Kgo is an unregulated battery. Comes off charger at about 4.2 volts. Averages 3.7 volts. Cuts off I think at about 3.4 volts.
Ego battery is regulated at 3.3 - 3.4 volts. Stays steady at that until it shuts off.
I've used my 2 original Kgo batts from my kit for 7 months. They're like the Timex watch. They just keep ticking.
Now if there are any electrical engineers out there that wish to chime in, I will bow to you as I am just an ol' Cowdog here.
Woof!

I'd just like to add that I use the newer ego that operates like the Kgo/Riva series. They're called the Upgrade ego, by joyetech.

They'll switch between regulated and not, as you desire. So it's like having both. The Upgrade series has added safety features also, like added short-circuit protection, and overdischarge ( I dislike when the battery severely overheats).

I can go on, but I'm sounding like a commercial and no-one is paying me.

Haven't seen that b4. Takes a special Kgo charger...

That charger is also known as the eGo USB Rapid charger. It is 510 threaded and outputs 4.2 volts at 420 mA.

Chargers and wall adapters do not output mAh. They are rated by mA. Batteries are rated by mAh

I was looking at the replacements batteries for the kit, KgoV2, and if you scroll down in the description, it says not to use a regular ego charger.

Doesn't say anything about that in the kit link provided earlier.

Actually it says they are compatible with a regular eGo charger.

"KGO is compatible with most all 510 and eGo style atomizers, cartomizers, and chargers."

They are saying that they are not compatible with Joyetech chargers.

What would make them not compatible?

I don't know the specs of a Joyetech charger. I know the Joyetech eGo is (usually, some are switchable) a regulated 3.4 volt output. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the charger.

Most kGo, eGo clones, Twist, etc. use the USB Rapid charger that has an output of 4.2 volts /420 mA.
Does anyone know the output of the Joyetech eGo charger?

IMO the kgo is one of the best non vv out there. It's what got me into the wonderful world of vaping :)

Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

this+1 million. i can't say enough about the KGO. the absolute best fixed voltage device i've tried, the batteries put out more voltage (as a 4.2 volt battery) than a fixed voltage (non-kicked) mod with an 18650 battery...it is a superior life battery, and a smaller body than the ego twists, if there is one issue i have with the KGO at all, its the squishy rubber button...that's really ALL i can complain about....if you are looking to buy and jump in to the vaping world and don't want to be bothered with a big battery mod or a VV device like the twist....get the kgo and a handful of low resistance cartomizers, if you get single coil or dual coil it doesn't matter, the KGO can handle either of those like a champ, i promise you it will change your life.

PS: as an owner of two KGO units and two eGo twists, the chargers are interchangeable. stop arguing the point, they both work fine for each other...if i put the meter on them they both have the same voltage coming off the wall, one is a joyetech that i got with my twists, the other is the KGO charger from hoosier....they are identical in every way.....from looks to performance.

    Official Answer:

The KGO is a ~4.2v (+ or - .05v) device (despite what people say, and I can prove it any day of the week). It is not as good as an eGo C Twist because it is not variable voltage. The KGO also suffers two gigantic dealbreakers despite its higher voltage than a standard eGo (non-twist): the vent notches are inferior and it causes a really bad airflow on everything compared to a real eGo, and it's not even slightly durable.

I started vaping with an 1100mah KGO Starter Kit and they should have lasted 10 months each for a total of 1 year 8 months for a pair of them alternating them every other day. They didn't even make it 7 months. One shorted out, the other one I broke cleaning it with a paperclip and accidentally grabbed hold of the rubber gasket around the centerpost (that prevents juice from getting inside the battery as well as separates positive and negative from completing the circuit) and spun it. It broke the positive connection wire off the bottom of the centerpost and I had to take it apart to repair it (the repair guide with pics and detailed instructions is in my blog - the link is in my signature (it's on page 2)). Taking it apart was not easy as the whole thing is hot glued together (see also, crappy construction). I ended up taking the centerpost out and pushing out the PCB with a torx bit screwdriver and breaking the hot glue seal. It was a pain. Putting the centerpost back in was also not even slightly fun or easy.

So, in conclusion, the KGO is a piece of junk and you should avoid it like the plague. The higher voltage is not really a benefit, as it's an in between number (too high for 2.0ohms and too low for 3.0ohms), and its bad airflow and low durability factor only make it even worse. For around the same price you can get your hands on a pair of GENUINE (altmoke.com and sweet-vapes.com both have genuines) eGo C Twists. Throw on an eGo USB Charger (output DC 4.2v 420mA) and you're good to go. Don't get a knockoff, I tried it and the dang thing doesn't twist without a rubber jar gripper. Not worth the money I saved!

All the eGo chargers use the same output: output DC 4.2v 420mA. The KGO, and the Twist both use the same charger.
All one need do is verify the output on the charger and if it matches these numbers it will work fine. I use my KGO charger on my Twists. I did not buy a new charger when I upgraded to the Twist - there was no need. 0 batteries have 'sploded over the last few months.
