I can't wait to see another update report from Six to see what I have to look forward to. It's now day 9 since Six received these. I'm wondering how they are holding up? I only bought 5 of them, so I'd like to know how many more I need to make it through the rest of the month?
I think those 5 could quite possibly get you through the month. I don't have a lot to report, but I can comment on a couple of things:
Cleaning: I ran out of the flavor I started with in the first carto (as predicted - I only had 10ml). All I did was toss the carto (minus the mouth piece) in some boiling water for 4 or 5 minutes. I let it cool down, blew it out, rinsed again with just water, blew out again - and let dry on a tray in a sunny window. - that worked great. It left no residual flavor and the carto performs flawlessly. I filled it up with a 100% VG juice the next day to test these with thicker juice.
Thicker Juice: I filled the one I cleaned with AVE Bobas Bounty. -- I chose that juice for a couple of reasons. First, I use that juice two to three hours a day every day as my last vape before bed, so I'm completely familiar with the flavor(s). I almost exclusively drip that one. I never carry it around in cartos and only occasionally use it in my bottom feeder. I was looking to discover first if it would wick well (100% VG), and second if the flavor would hold up and not wash out. I can report that I'm surprised at how well this carto is able to wick it and that after 2 full fills and a couple of top-offs, the flavor has remained really good. Just like with the regular dual coils, if you chainvape and get the carto really hot, the flavor will wash out and stay weak until you let the carto cool down. That's just the nature of it and can be avoided.
The other carto still has BWB Applewood in it and is still performing just fine. It did great on an eGo clone for a couple of days and I moved it to 5.0v yesterday when my 510 to eGo adpaters came in. Putting a huge carto like this on my triple-v makes it a really huge device. Just like the standard dual coils at 5.0v, the performance is incredible. It's cooler vapor than a standard sized dual coil due to the size and airflow difference, but it makes an insane amount of vapor. The 70/30 PG/VG looks like 100% VG as far as the vapor cloud goes.
These also share another characteristic with the standard dual coils: They get better and better. The first fill isn't that impressive, but they break in. The perform better on the third fill than they did on the first. The filler does become more absorbent, and I'll mention that I was indeed accurate with what I said the capacity is. ~4.2 ml after break in and you'll have trouble getting more than 3.6 ml in the first time.
I'm going to order more of these, but not right away. I have about 40 or 50 regular dual coils and a box of triple coils on hand right now (as well as various other cartos). I'm going to wait for the next run of these and see if the manufacturer sorts out that little issue with the 510 connector. Even though it's an easy fix, those sorts of quality control issues annoy me. Just because I'm willing to tinker with my PVs doesn't mean I should have to.
I'm going to add just a little personal note: If I decide to go to Vegas for vapefest, you'll see me there carrying my triple-v with one of these cartos on it filled with a high-VG juice. A huge 3 inch carto sitting on top of a 5 inch mod creating vapor you just about have to cut through with a machete is sort of far out. I would have never dreamed of such a thing when I first started vaping. This technology keeps getting better and better.
