They show up on black or silver or white, but can rub off. Anybody got something better?

I use a Brothers label printer with black or white on clear backing. I think I paid $19 for the unit with free shipping. Note that the label tape will run ya more than the printer. But, I've yet to have ANY fading and I've put atties and cartos in a sonic cleaner with vodka. Regardless, I'd be playing flav roulette without it...

Had to RIP it apart. These suckers are sturdy! So the liquid wicks from the poly-filler to the blanket, and the blanket is wrapped around the woven air tube. There are two slits in the bottom of the (epoxied) tube that the ends of the short glass fiber wick protrude through like a moustache, enough to contact the blanket. If you vape the sucker dry, only the glass fiber heats up, no filler is in contact. I don't think I'd worry too much about the tube. It seems like a glass fiber weave, it's strong as the devil, I had to pull really hard to rip it out, and the bottom attachment still held!

Now I can't wait to see where they put the coils in the dual coil design (coming any day now).

Anybody rip one of the SMOKs apart?

BTW, notice the exposed wire. That's going to glow red at first. The guys working on the GENESIS DIY attys, where the wire is coiled around a stainless steel screen wick, noticed that until the exposed wire is burned-in oxidized with juice, there's a bad taste. That would explain why the taste improves on cartos like this after they're used a little.

Who's developed the best technique for labeling cartos?

I'm pretty low-tech. Since I'm into DIY I've got a buncha 6ml bottles - I label the bottle and attach the carto to it with a rubber band :)

edit: Forgot to mention that I only use EMDCCs for my all-day vape. For everything else I use 510 mega cartos.

Do you think it would be easier to manage multiple flavors if the Smok logo on these cartos was offered in different colors? White (normal), red, blue, green, yellow, purple, etc?

Probably be able to mark over the logos with colored scripto markers. I color code my smaller cartos with different colors of drip tips, yellow for Caramel Corn, Blue for Mint, Green for Key Lime Pime, etc., but we can't do that for these big guys so I've been sticking the colored adhesive spots on 'em.

I mean no disrespect but I think it's pretty unlikely that that many EMDCCs from two different manufacturers and two different vendors would have issues.

Can you tell us a little bit about exactly how you filled them and how much juice they took?

ive been filling these 2 ways. either dripping it onto the polyfill (not the center tube) or syringe filling from the bottom up. ive made sure that its fully saturated. as far as how much juice they took... syringe fill was ~3ml, dripping was ~70-80 drops.

i just put in a ticket at VapingZone. we will see what happens...

soooo.... anyone know of any cartomizers that WORK? bout ready to go buy a pack of camels. at least those perform as expected...

I think your packing might still be dry. I refill mine at the first hint of a burned taste and on a refill I get 2.5ml in them easy - and that's with the packing still damp - if you're putting 3ml in a new carto there may not be any juice around the coils. IIRC initial fill should be about 3.7 to 4ml.

If you fill them a little too quickly EMDCCs will leak fluid out the center hole even if the packing's not completely saturated. I generally ignore that (that's why I fill them in a shot glass) and syringe fill then dump another couple ml in the top and let it sit for a few minutes, then blow it out, wipe off the excess juice and vape.

Hope this helps - but it still sounds like a dry carto.

The Boge 2.0s and the 1.7 Resurrectors work great with ego type batteries, especially the KGOs. But nothing holds as much juice as the Emdccs. Closest carto to that type of capacity would be the XXL Dualies or tank systems or you could try the Echo-Es, they now have a dual coil Echo-E but I have a problem with the tips on those, taste bad to me so I would order a drip tip for those. I'm not giving up totally on the Emdcc, they do have a place in my arsenal for outings or where changing out smaller cartos would be inconvenient.

Edit: I wouldn't use those units that you can see the coils turn red, there must be something wrong with those...

i dont mind having low capacity. my pet peeves are wasted juice & juice that wont get wicked up. having to ~mod~ or fix something every other day, carts that are a PITA to refill, carts/attys that only last a day or so...

the CE2s were kinda cool at first. but those things are total pieces of !@#$. didnt last long, pain to refill. break easily. my eGo tank was really cool at first. but having to adjust the wick or make a new wick every day is a big turn off.

maybe ill try the Boge cartys and see. how long do those last on average? my PV is attached to my hand at all times and i vape constantly. i generally use juice thats 15-20% VG

Yep, I scratched all those you mentioned above off my list also. I'm back to keeping it simple...after trying all the latest and greatest I've found that a simple good carto and PV are all I need. I'm loving my KGO and Boge 2.0 or Smok 1.7 combination. I have all these mods here that need expensive batteries, are Variable Voltage and so forth but just keep going back to the simple combos I mentioned. The ego-T systems were a total fail with me, the attys were expensive and the wicks disentegrated within 2 weeks. If you can't use the emdccs, and I think you just got a bad bunch of them, worth another try, pick up a 5 pack of Boge 2.0s...Good Prophets has a low everyday price for those that can't be beat also they have a coupon and right now a big sale...good luck!

They won't last as long as an emdcc, but I do a good fill every morning and then just drip into the carto via a drip tip the rest of the day. I top them off when they seem to be getting dry. The cartos must be kept moist at all times, dry hits will kill them. I'm a chain vaper also and I don't mind topping off now and then. My hubby OTOH can not be bothered and will only use the emdcc, he is at work all day and can vape in his office.
