I thought so :)

I'm gonna cannibalize that Smoktech battery this weekend anyway. After running all over town looking for 14500 batteries today I finally ordered a couple from Kalamazoo Vapor Shop, which is only about an hour and a half from me but I don't wanna make the drive. Everybody where I live (which is the state capital) gave me a blank look when I asked for 14500 protected batteries - and that includes batteries Plus, Radio Shack and every other electronics store in town.

The only people who didn't give me a blank look was a hobby shop who said they could get them (some radio control stuff uses them).

Anyway, I'm gonna cut about half the tube off that Smoktech battery, throw the battery part away and sink the switch and about half the battery tube into a box mod - a pair of 14500 batteries in parallel should give me 1800mAh, the ability to use an eGo charger *and* screw an EMDCC on the thing :D

WOW! You have GOT to let me know how that works!! Please???

I sure will.

I got the idea from this thread

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-issues/224213-ego-10440-battery-mod.html

where OP put a 10440 battery in an eGo battery case. All I'd be doing is lengthening the switch wires, getting a 2xAA battery holder and a project box from Radio Shack, sinking the battery tube into the project box and wiring the thing up. A 14500 battery is AA sized so this should be easy.

Couldn't you put a potentiometer in it and make it VV?

Now that's not quite so easy. Adding resistance to lower the voltage is easy but I don't see me wanting less than 3.7v :)

To boost the voltage you'd need some kind of a boost circuit and the general consensus is an eGo switch wouldn't sit still for much of that - and if I lose the eGo switch then I lose the ability to use an eGo charger because the charger circuit's built into the switch ;)

It'd be easier for me to just buy a VV box mod and slap a 510 to eGo adapter on it - but then I'd have to buy a battery charger, and I kinda like the USB charging thing. Doing USB charging without an eGo switch gets a little complicated :)

edit: Thinking about it a little more if you put much of anything between the switch and the battery you'd lose the ability to charge through the 510 connector - for me that's a dealbreaker :D

ROFL...I guess that's why I don't build mods! :laugh::laugh::facepalm:

I don't either - I've modded more than a few basses but this will be my first e-cig mod.

Yea, I can get over my head there as well. I do have a custom made one off that needs pickups and tuners that I'm trying to sell. If I wasn't so electronically deficient, I'd slap p'ups on it and sell it much quicker.

I'm not gonna clutter up the forum with bass stuff but will PM you pics of my formerly passive SR406.

Well, I just fired up my first EMDCC from VapingZone, and it works perfectly with no adjustments of any kind. The only thing odd I see is that you apparently don't screw it all the way on. That's been true on all of the batteries I have, including Ego-T 1000 mah and the Kgo's. The taste, vapor, and overall performance is excellent so far.

Glad you like it - the skirts aren't short on mine, though. Strange.

My Vaping Zone emdcc's don't screw all the way onto any of my eGo batteries (standard 650mAh, Hoosier 1100mAh, Dark City Vapor 1100mAh). There's a gap that remains wide enough to slip ~3 sheets of paper in between. Therefor the draw on the Vaping Zone emdcc's is noticeably airier/easier than the "Smok" labeled emdcc's, perhaps TOO much airier. I may have to file down the battery raised lip a bit. To clarify, all "Smok" labeled emdcc's fit snug on all 3 battery types.

Wonder if VZ's supplier changed something to try to get around the off brand battery center pin issues???

I guess it's possible - I just tried it on a Smoktech battery and it cinched down snug, but the skirt on this battery connector's been ground down a bit - so my test is useless :D

I have to go back and edit my previous statement: in a well-lit environment I've confirmed that the Vaping Zone emdcc's dont screw down flush on any of my batteries. :p So... either I deal with a super airy draw or I file down the battery connection a bit. I'm curious if that would have any negative effect on the use of the other normal cartos, I can't think that there would be.

On a side note, the fact that there is a gap all the way around the bottom of the carto is in theory a GOOD THING. The way i hold my ego when I vape I often accidentally cover up both the air slits on the cartos with my finger and thumb, which gets annoying. And every time I screw on a carto the slots are in a different alignment vs the button and how i hold it, so it's random. But with the new carto I tried this morning from Vaping Zone it's too airy sooo... I started brainstorming. If I shave the battery connector down just a hair it'd lessen the depth of the slots on the battery lip, still fit snug, and I'd still have a tiny all-around gap below the carto, yes? I think I'll try that :)

I just ordered 5, so I guess we'll see how they do now. The ones I got previously fit well on my 1000 mAh eGo batt, and vaped like there was no tomorrow!!

So stoked... my 3 arrive tomorrow along with some of the best juice on the planet (so I've been told). Vape session at Bat's house.
