If your eGo mega dual coils will not fire on your battery, here is what to do:

I've seen several ego batteries and ego clone batteries that had their center pin sunk in too far to work on a charger. That's also a common complaint with the Go-Go and a few others. Hoogie reminded me that lifting the center post on a battery can solve these sort of problems. That doesn't happen to be the problem, but it led to the solution.

It is the center pin in the 510 connector on the cartomizer. I used a dental pick with a 10 degree angle, but I'm sure a small paper clip or other device will work. I stuck that in to the center hole in the 510 connector on the carto. it has to go in a couple of mm to grab hold of anything. I lifted the center pin of the carto just a tiny bit. then I made sure the center pin was centered and not shorting off the sides. Then - I vaped it on every battery it wouldn't work on before.

To give credit where credit is due: Thanks to Hoogie from madvapes for the reminder of the center pin, and thanks to PBusardo in his video review of the Boge Revolution 2.1 for mentioning the center pin on a carto can be lifted and showing a technique of how that can be done. I claim no rights to such intellectual property. I am just preaching the word as it was taught to me! (and, yes - the preceding paragraph was intended as a jab at basilray and others just because they deserve it and know why)

Have you tried removing the filler? I was wondering if it's easy like on the GoGo and can be replaced with the Fluval Water Polishing Pad. If not, how do you plan on cleaning them? My question is probably premature. Thanks. :)

I don't think the filler will come out of these very easily. The wire goes up the middle of the roll of filler (the coils are in the middle) and then back down a layer or two in. So, some of the filler is actually inside the wire loop.

These are the same diameter as the ego mega type B (just a 'by the way' on that: An ego mega type B drip tip fits and I think is superior to the rubber whistle tip they provide with the carto). So, these things are huge and give very good access to the filler for hot water. - That's pretty much my plan. I think I'll just throw them in boiling water for a few minutes, let them cool, blow them out, and let them dry. I can't foresee any problems with that.

I am almost finished with the 10 ml of malty toffee that I started the first carto with, so I'll probably be doing a clean on the first one on the 5th (won't have time today on the 4th). I'll let you know how that goes.

I filled my other working one with BWB applewood which is the flavor I use pretty close to 8 to 10 hours a day at work etc. So, I can comment on flavor now: Flavor: Pretty darn good. And, my earlier assessment of the flavor being better at 3.7v was accurate. On the regulated eGo battery, the flavor is a little weak. I wouldn't call it muted or washed out, but it lacks some depth. On an unregulated eGo clone batt, the flavor is very accurate to what I'm used to with other devices. The flavor doesn't get changed drastically by more voltage, either. At 5.0v, I was very pleased with the taste. - 5.0v is as high as I've gone so far. I have a 6.0v set up, but my experience with the regular dual coils has been that I don't really care for them much above 5.0.

Wicking: I'm impressed. These consume nearly all the juice without giving any sort of a dry hit taste. I got around 3.6 or so ml in on the first fill. I got almost 3.8 ml in on the first refill. So, I was right about the filler becoming more absorbent after the first fill, and I was right about the capacity. It's really close to 4 ml. Perhaps 4.2 at best. - The juice I'm using isn't the thickest stuff I have by any means, but I've put these cartos through some paces by chainvaping the heck out of them at all three voltages I used. They wick really, really well.

So, now that I figured out how to make them work on my ego clones, I'm generally pleased with them. 1 in 3 having bad threads and the fact that I had to tweak them a little bit to make them work on anything but a genuine joye eGo might be a testament to quality control. I do, however, have to think they will work out the bugs in their manufacturing process just like they did with the regular 1.5 ohm DCs which had some QC problems at first, but seems to be sorted out now.

If I were to review these, I couldn't give them a completely glowing review because I think I shouldn't really have to do any tweaking to get them working. That's my main gripe about them. I have two nit-picky complaints about them besides the QC stuff, but they are the exact same nit-picky complaints you'll hear about ego-t and ego-mega attys. One is the relatively tight draw, but that tight draw actually makes the user take longer draws and get a lot of vapor. The other is that they get the same sort of condensation in the mouth piece as the eGo-t and eGo mega, so once in a while, you will most certainly get a little juice in your mouth that gathered in the mouth piece from condensation.

Vapor production and flavor are both very good. And, the really nice thing compared to an eGo mega atty is that there is no leaking around the cartridge - because there is no cartridge. So, you get the look and vapor production of a good ego mega, better flavor, and no leaking. That's pretty much a win if you don't mind tweaking them just a tiny bit if they don't happen to work on your battery... and assuming bad threads are going to be rare.

That's pretty much a win...

six, thanx for a well done update!

I use my eGos batts 99% of the time and I've really enjoyed these Mega DCCs. Since I've had none of your issues, this will be the config I'll be using for the foreseeable future. I do need to get an extender in order to try 'em on my Old Goat.

Nhaler has 3.5 dc 510 thread no adapter needed and they got different ohms of choice 1.6, 2.0, 2.5 these are clear and come with drip tips 4.00 each but it gives you some extra drip tips as well.

Those are much different than the ego-specific dual coils. The "collosal dual coils" as they are called at nhaler and mega xl dual coils as they are called everywhere else are 1 mm larger diameter and 3 or so mm longer than a standard DC. The drip tips that come with them don't fit anything else and as far as I can tell, no one sells a drip tip that fits those. - And just mentionable: if you don't need the higher ohms, the 1.5s of those are only about $2.50 at madvapes in steel and clear.

The DCs I'm talking about have a skirt like an ego mega or ego-t atty. They are only for eGo and eGo clone batteries and can be used on mods with an adapter. They are $2.50 at madvapes and not yet available elsewhere as far as I can tell.

I have one of these sweet cherry vapes dragon tips that were designed for the ego mega b atty. I hope it fits on these dualies.

Thanks Six, great review and follow ups. I'm gonna try a few, although they are more for my hubby who only likes two or three different juices and I can unload 3.5+ ml into a few for him and not bother again for a few days. I'm the type who likes to try various flavors but when I find a keeper those 3.5 SS DCs are great. But they look really weird to use in public. I think these will look rather nice since they have the skirt and everything will be the same diameter and no cone to worry about fitting. I'm still debating over the new V2 of the Giantomizers, big improvement over the V1 but lacking flavor, lots o vapor though, but no dual coil of course. I'm kinda hooked on my Smoktech mega DCs but they dry out so quickly.

six could you post pics of how it looks with the ego battery please ? :)

From Left to Right: eGo 1000 mah with an eGo dual coil - then a plain eGo 650 mah batt to give size reference to the rest - then a gold ring ego clone with an eGo dual coil - then a Smoke Tech eGo clone battery with an eGo mega atty and cartridge.

So what is your overall impression of it? Do you like it much more over mega tank ? How long do you think single carto would last you for?

Over all, I'm pleased with them. They produce good vapor and clean flavor. They look just like an eGo mega (just a little longer) so that's also a plus.

I'm quite fond of the ego mega type-B attys. I've had really good luck with mine and I'm surprised they aren't more popular than they are. They produce good flavor and a ton of vapor... but they tend to leak around the cartridge and the cartridges are hit and miss in regards to the filler being done right so unmodified cartridges often flood the atty or don't wick fast enough. I blue foam the cartridges and don't have to worry about that. But, no matter what, the cartridges leak a little and if you don't blow them out regularly, the flavor does drop off after a while.

Well, those negatives on the eGo mega attys don't exist with the eGo dual coil cartos. They don't leak, the flavor doesn't drop off, and there is no need to modify anything unless the 510 connector gives you a little trouble like I described earlier in the thread. I'll be buying more of them.

As to how long they'll last: Only time will tell, but I don't see any reason they can't last at least a week or so without cleaning. I usually get about a week out of the standard DCs and I don't clean them. I jsut throw them away at the first sign of changed flavor or tight draw. I think these eGo dual coils will be easy to clean, so I think I can safely guess people will be able to get quite a bit of use out of them.

<snip>

Well crud. I was happily vaping away on this new carto but decided to try a different eGo battery. It would not fire. So I followed the instructions above carefully and now it won't fire on anything.

Question... The center pin on the carto has grooves as if to accept a flat screwdriver for adjustment. I gave it one full turn out. Was this a mistake? Did I break something internally?

Prior to this hiccup I was more than impressed with the vapor production of this carto. Not to mention the capacity. I'm definitely not giving up.

Thanks, JJ

The ego mega duals seem very similar to the Echo-E cartomizers (single coil) that I have been using. I have been wanting to try the dual cartos and this seems like what I have been waiting for. Have just placed an order with madvapes to give them a try. I am running low on my echo-e cartos and also these are about $1.50 cheaper then the echo carts. For those that don't know what the echo's are they are very similar to the Go-Go carts. Everyone who has used or will use these please post your experiences so we can see if these are a "real" keeper. I just wish I could find a carto that lasts consistently for at least 2 weeks (WITHOUT CLEANING). My overall experience with cartomizers is they are awesome the first day and then trail off each day until the 5th or 6th day where they just suck... I would even be happy with one week of use as long as it was consistently awesome each day. The best carto that I have used to date (IMO) is the boge or smoktech LR 2.0 ohm. The Echo carts hold a lot of juice and I like that but it it does not have the warm vape that I get with the LR's cartos. Happy vaping all!!!
