Riplea, believe it or not (geeze, I've been SO wanting to say that...), there are also some who say to cut the wicking as close as you can to the metal. Experiment, and see what ya like.

I happen to like bunny tails.
due to the fact that the CLR is ALMOST as big as the 'cup' in the tank which it fits into, if you make the bunny-tails excessive,
one might create a plugging effect and not allow optimum wicking...![]()
Looking back, I should mention that my methodology was a very simple one. I took a look at a stock coil, then said, "Well, THAT obviously works."
So definitely not a horse's tail, but a bunny tail.
So definitely don't emulate the example Puf gives as a "DON'T DO" (that's way too long), but a nice little fluffy puff (like a bunny has!).
