Same, although I own quite a few (different models) Kayfuns and will keep them in reserves mainly for the same reasons you stated.
By far the eGo ONE Tron-S, Tron-T and the new V2s tanks with the CLR coils (vs stock coils) are my favorite every day tanks followed the STM 3.5ml tank but only with the rebuildable coil vs stock coils.

I like my STM also and have no use for the Kayfuns. Love my EgoOnes and my GS airs.

Sooooo, how easy is it to recoil an EgoOne CLR?

CLR is a Pro Tank or Evod coil on steroids, it's a recoilers dream!
Especially after the GS Air Coils. :glare:
I looked up the STM, I had one and gave it away...hate those damn little screws!

if you can find the original (older) style kanger sub coils
they are actually pretty easy to recoil
they do work O.K. when new, but like other coils, I've just tore them apart from NEW
and rebuilt to my sophisticated standards :D (SS, .8-1.8Ω, rayon)

Thanks. Better kit than the VTC Mini with the eGo One, Puf? Not sure I could stand it.

I'm talkin' the TANK KIT only (not a Tank AND Mod kit)

and I like the added feature of being able to get the way-cool "bell" tank for them (I like that !)

Funny, I thought you meant a kit with a mod, so I went looking. Found a subox mini kit for about the same price as just the tank. Kinda weird. Either way, I'm not spending any money on vaping right now, but I'll keep my eye on them.

Thanks to all you folks for the information.

:w00t::lol::w00t:

I'm just not sold on the kayfun (gave up on them over a year ago)
for as many people that hoop-n-holla and dance around with their finger in the air
I also thought I must be missin' sumthin...
mine works good, easy to build - BUT
it's to hard to tear down, to heavy, and flavor to me is no better (I can spend my time a better way)

- - -

I am also fond of the versatile, solid, SubTankMini (STM)
no doubt the nicest 'kit' of all the tanks available...
if it would of had an 'option' for a less glass (say a SS tank)
I'd probably have a trunk full of those instead of ego ones...

Respect your point of view, but imo I get noticeably better flavor out of my Kayfun Mini v3 clone than the Tron. Not miles apart, mind you, but noticeable. The downside, however, is I find that I have to change my wick every couple of days or it starts tasting a little dirty. That and it only holds 2 ml of eliquid. The Kayfun is usually on a Wisemec Vaporflask Lite in SS316L TCR mode.

On the other hand, I find myself picking up my Tron and matching Evic VTC Mini more and more often. Great flavor, long lasting coil and wick, and twice the eliquid. The combo goes with me whenever I leave the house - no worries about scratching or breaking the mod (silicone sleeve) or tank when I'm out and about. Cheap enough to easily replace (barring FDA shenanigans) if it's lost or stolen.

I had the Evic Mini/Tron combo before I got the Kayfun Mini v3. Gave the Tron a shot with the CL coils it came with, found them terrible and put the tank away. The irony is that I might not have tried the Kayfun Mini v3 if I had given the CLR coils a shot before that. Heh.

I like my STM also and have no use for the Kayfuns. Love my EgoOnes and my GS airs.

That STM is one tank I never got around to trying. More than anything else, I didn't like the form factor; just too tall for me. Thought of trying the Top Nano version, but then I found the Kayfun Mini v3s. To me the GS-Airs are good, but both the Kayfun Mini v3 and Tron are better. Especially was not happy that the GS-Airs are plated brass or something - not stainless steel. I've had threads wear out on those.

Couldn't answer that. Been on my 1st 1.0 CLR head for weeks - just changing out the cotton wick now and again...maybe once every week or two? Been wanting to try SS316L in TC mode on it, but can't bring myself to yank out a perfectly serviceable coil. (Yeah, I know ... old school.) :D

Do you know if there is any real difference in the V2 and the original? Was just looking at some STMs. Seem to be fairly expensive, which goes against my vapeligion.
Good morning, Mike.

Body panels are different, insides the same. If, and only if you are asking about ego one Megas.

Morning Peoples! If you look closer inside the v2, they put an extra lining in there that looks like a seal or a silicone coating is on top of the stainless lining. The original is wide open inside. :)

I stand corrected. Was afraid to look that hard...thought I might find a bug planted by
the FDA.

Same here its been 18 days this morning and i noticed an off taste very slight burnt.
Took out cotton which was very dark almost black and dry burned coil nicely.
I took out my kanthal a-1 to compare it to joyetech and what i found was 26g was a little thicker than whats in there but the 28g looks darn close if not an exact match so thats what i will eventually try.
Replaced cotton and flavor was very nice again .

To get an idea about original factory clr , i used only 1 brand new clr for 18 days to test it and about 6 - to 7 ml per day
Diy real cig concentrated flavoring @ 2.2% / nic 12mg / Pg 92 /Vg 8%

Your mileage will vary depending on your eliquid you use and its formula.

I too was old school. The thought of destroying a perfectly good factory coil to put a handcrafted, homespun thing in the body was a sacrilege. Until I tried it!

Now, first thing I do with a new CLR is rip the entrails out. Sometimes I just replace the cotton with rayon, which in itself yields a nicer vape. Other times I replace the coil and wick.

After a few weeks of experiments with 302/304 0.20" (approx. 24 awg.), Ti 28 awg.,
Kanthal 26, and 316L 28 awg., have settled in happily with 304 ss 0.15", nearly 26 gauge. I anneal and air cool both before and after building a coil. Wonderful flavor and clouds that threaten my tootle puffer status. SS is fine in either tc or wattage mode. Add a very thin flavor wick on top of the coil, and experience something outstanding. (Thanks to Cheech the Coilmaster for the idea! We have been back and forth with test results for a few days. Less is more.)

I use the large diameter hole bottom pins from Ni or Ti coils, so if anyone would like to swap for a bunch of small hole pins, let me know. With the easier draw of the brass colored pin, I shut the afc down to about 15% open. If I use the stock silver colored pin, I run the afc wide open.

The 304 ss can be found in 1 pound blue plastic cans labelled "Aircraft Lock wire",
and you can get over 900' delivered for under $30. A lifetime supply of rayon cellucotton from Sally's Beauty Supply is about $15 for 500'.

Nothing wrong with 316 or 316L—they make good coils, but they contain about 2% molybdenum to make them better for welding. That drives the cost up. Since I don't weld anything with stainless, the 304 is just right.

My coil and wick is a 2.5mm dia. coil with 30g Kanthal, 6 wraps, slightly spaced, for about 2.0Ω. Next I'll try a full contact coil, which will be easier for me to wrap. Rayon is my wicking material. Liking this s/u very much.

Sorry for the confusion. I was asking about the two different versions of the rebuildable head for the STM. All I saw was a V2 and was wondering if the original was very different.

oooooooooooooooooh, that's what ya meant

they are pretty close, I like the newer better (easier) but both capture wire same...
•the old RBA; cap screwed on and it had a channel like kayfun (see red vertical line)
new RBA; cap press-fits on and held by a set screw - notice also channels gone and cap now has juice windows (see red square)
