makes me wonder WHO's buying all those $100+ Mods out there...

THIS is a most excellent question, Gerry, and is pursuant to some recent things that have been floating around this head o'mine (which means that poor Kat's ears have had to put up with it too). :|

Something to think about >

  1. It is estimated that there are approximately 10 million vapers worldwide
  2. At last available count (Sep-2017) there were 256,000 total/registered ECF members
This means that, even if assuming every ECF member was actively perusing these halls, we'd represent a whopping 2.5% of the total market. I think that we all know that the reality is a much lower number, likely less than even a single (whole) percentage point.

Heck, I'll bet that most of us would be hard pressed to come up with 1,000 names that we see here on a regular and recurring basis. Even if there were TEN thousand, that still would only amount to one-tenth of one percent, which is almost virtually non-existent from a statistical perspective.

So while we exchange thoughts, ideas, opinions, and everything else under the sun, the large majority of the market carries on outside of these walls, many not even knowing of its existence. Sobering thoughts, for me anyway.

What's all this mean? I have NO flippin' idea, but I kinda liked it better before I started thinking about it.

Point being - who's buying the mods? To paraphrase the wise, old owl from the Tootsie Pop commercials (gone by):

"This forum may never know."

I still stop by the shop that I used to buy my Cigarettes at and every once and awhile just to chat with the owner or his wife. She works mornings and he works evenings. Very nice people that always gave me a cut price on smokes.

Anyway they also so sell lots of vape equipment, mods, coils, ejuice, etc. I am always amazed to see the same people come in that store and buy 1 coil at a time for $6 to $8. They all seem to have expensive mods and huge juice sucking tanks. Seems they come in every day or two to get a new coil. Why? Doesn't make sense but that is they way it goes.

He sells mostly high end mods and tanks. The cheap stuff doesn't sell per him so he stopped carrying inexpensive mods. Only fancy new shiny mods. Same with ejuice, expensive brands move inexpensive decent stuff doesn't sell. SMOK stuff is apparently hot. His prices are way higher than online but he has no problem selling the stuff.

He also told me he is cutting back on cigarettes as the sales of them are way off and most of his income now is mods, ejuice, coils, scales and hooka along with snus. He also sales tons of Juul pods more than cigs now.

I got four of those in silver color from another vendor closing them out at $11 several months ago. The battery is actually good too. Produces a good vape with the coils included.

Can't go wrong for $10 either but I am full up on the tanks so no point in getting more of them.

$9.99 shipped to your door. I think the Ego One Mega tank alone is worth that price. Hurry if you want one, sale ends in 2 hours.

Authentic Joyetech eGo ONE VT Black 2300mAh Starter Kit
Thanks for the info Sir! I dropped and/or bumped at least 3 of the ego one megas and obviously when they are dropped or bumped the right way, the thread stem on the base gets bent and then afterwards the threads are useless. Grabbed a couple of them for replacements and I'm sure I can use the mod for out and about sometimes.

Just FYIIMRs ;) that I've had some luck squeezing them back to shape with a pliers. 50% luck to be specific. It worked with one, but not with another.

Worth a shot? Possibly. :)

This concludes today's Public Service Announcements and we now return you to your regularly scheduled irreverence.

These 'hits' were so minute, I wouldn't even see the bend on there with a microscope. They surely don't work as usual though. Thanks for the insight DP. :)

@pufZeppelin ...about a year ago I posted the Holm Skillet (on sale for $6.99) as a suggestion for a "smoker Xmas gift"...

You posted a slightly more expensive and slightly more complicated alternative...

Although the Holm Skillet has since disappeared from the vaping scene...of the 5 gifts I gave...1 smoker has switched to vaping for about 50% of his nicotine enjoyment...and 1 smoker converted to full-time vaping...

Just wondering what your "smoker Xmas gift" results ended up being...

..
