They are very airy... Too airy for me, and I like somewhat loose MTL.

Some people have mentioned that they've pulled the pin from a 1.0ohm coil and used it to replace the pin in a 0.5ohm CLR to get MTL air instead of DL. I've never tried it yet, but plan to down the road.

I will have to baby and be really careful with the stock of 1.0 I have left to rebuild. I probably should have switched up more often to other rebuildable coils I have like the sub tank mini rba over the years but I like these so much more! The biggest issue/loss for me was gaskets and worn threading.

Right. @pufZeppelin also suggested, years ago, that building a beefier coil helps to restrict the airflow, but I never tried it myself.

THIS is how I like to see my current/in-rotation CLRs. Just a few hours ago, it was almost completely reversed. One ready, and LOTS needing a wick.

@Katdarling: Whaddya think about the re-pinning thingie? Grab a few more or just sit pat/tight?

I think re-pinning sounds easy peazy and perhaps we should.

Guys and gals, let us know if there are some good ol' good sales?

@Lanciab, you said to replace with a CL pin. How about the regular CLR 1 ohm coil pin? Yah?

I can handle that one.

"Yah" :laugh:

Tis it a good night for red?

There are still boxes of the Ti 0.5ohm CLR coils available for $1.99 at several vendors...last I looked. You just need pins from some 1.0ohm coils to replace the 0.5ohm pins.

Unless you're on old fud like me who has zero use for TC. :)

"Kanthal or bust!"

But what you need is more CLR coil housings...right? 'Cause you can rebuild them with your Kanthal, or whatever wire you want to, can't you? Just change the pin, with 1 from a 1.0ohm coil. Or maybe I'm not sure exactly what you want or have already.

@DPLongo22 - I've found a US vendor who definitely has boxes of the 1.0ohm CLR coils. But...they must think they've got gold in them...'cause they want $19.95/box for them! I checked and it let me put 5 boxes in a trial Cart. Don't know how many more than that they have though.

We're just lazy, JC. Neither of us are in love with building coils, although we certainly do enough of it. We just prefer using the CLRs until the coil is shot. They're saving, but I've only rebuilt a couple. I will if and when I need to, which is hopefully never.

Thanks, JC. "Yowza" on the price.

I'm guessing there are others who need them more than I/we, so I'll in the background, at least for a while.

I saw that too yesterday... the price is crazy, the picture of them does not look like the original CLR coils (maybe the CL nonrebuildable?) and I was able to add 40+ to the cart, (random number I'm sure I could have added more) something feels VERY off to me so I just moved on. They do have several locations in Texas.

I noticed the wrong picture right away, too, but all the info on the page was for the CLR coils. That's something I've seen on other websites, too (pics not matching descriptions). In any event, I'd never pay $19.95 for any box of coils...no matter what they were nor how hard to find. ;)
