When I wrote to Joyetech asking if they will ever offer more 1.0 CLR heads the answer was to check the factory site they did not know if they would ever get more... Not promising at all. Just guessing the available 0.5 CLR I still see around the web is old unsold stock and Joyetech is no longer making CLRs. I wish I actually liked the 1.0 CL coils because I can still find some but I was never overly fond of them.
It's too bad I bought an excessive amount of tron tanks back in the day but hey I have been using them pretty much exclusively since 2016 and can limp along for some time on the limited supply of 1.0 CLRs I still have so it's not the worst investment I've ever made lol! I do have other tanks/rbas I just got so used to these.

Plus this tanks seems to last forever.

I like the Trons too. I think I've liked most tanks that have worked with the CLRs. Amazing little coils.
I've knocked a couple off kilter, but they can usually be "fixed" with a needle nose pliers.
I'd never pay $19.95 for any box of coils...no matter what they were nor how hard to find.
I agree. It's cheaper to buy a box of CLs and .5Ω CLRs. Highway robbery.
As someone who has never used/owned these CLR coils, I find it rather strange that a lot of you seem to want to hoard so many of them like as if they aren't rebuildable. Aren't they specifically designed to be rebuildable? Am I missing something here?
They are, but nothing lasts forever. Parts do wear out.
I can't speak for others, but I used to use those coils as disposables--without rebuilding. I would rewick them a couple of times and then grab a fresh coil. But I did save the used coils for future rebuilding--if necessary. They were cheap and I was lazy.

Specifically, they're really easy to re-wick (and I do it fairly often), but rebuilding them requires -
(a) NR/R wire
(b) a proprietary insulator that, to the best of my knowledge and effort, cannot be purchased other than via CL or CLR coils.
The NR/R wire is getting much more difficult to come by, and the insulators may make it through a build or two, but I think could need to be replaced that early. I haven't tested it, but I can see the wear I'm putting on the ones in rotation, and it's not a long jump to assume that's likely in the ballpark.
I've run some for quite a long time before pulling the original coil out, so they've got some legs - just not endless ones (or anything close to an RBA atty).
??? I've only used regular Kanthal and ss wire for my rebuilds! Why are you using NR/R wire?
Heck if I know. One of the (much) more knowledgeable folks here on ECF once said (somewhere) it was a safer approach, and would protect the grommets/insulators to a point.

I'll come shuffling back in here, like I never left, not recognize anyone or anything, then post the question:

I expect that at least some of the responses might make me angry.
I use the eleaf ECR rebuildable coil head, which is the same principle as the CLR coil in that the coil legs have to be trapped and isolated by that rubber grommet at positive pin. If the coil legs are too long and the wire too thin you can get a hot leg which will burn the grommet, unless you use NR-R-NR wire coils.
I have this problem with rebuilding protank coils since you have to use a very thin gauge wire and the legs are long. That's one reason why I stocked up on NR-R-NR premade coils from FT.
But I don't get a hot leg with the ECR coil head using 28g wire.
You know, some factory coil heads I've taken apart have the really tiny tubes (silicone?), sleeves around the coil legs. I wonder if plasti-dipping coil legs would work and be safe).
In all honesty, I have moved on and my CLRs are in my Vapocalypse box, so I'm not up to date at all. I fell in love with Innokin coils (Z and Sceptre) so I'm stocking up. Not rebuildable, but I love them. Other than that, I have enough RTAs as a backup. So maybe some experts will chime in... Sorry I can't help.
I doubt you'll find grommets, at least not OEM. You'd have to scour the internet to find rubber/silicone grommets that you might be able to use as insulators for these CLR heads.
I bet a workable grommet could be made using a 3D printer. Would be very easy to design but a few iterations might be needed to get it right. It would be hard, not soft, but if designed properly it could still work.
Someday I'm gonna get a 3d printer. Some day.

And someday I'm gonna forget where the cotton goes into the wire. Hopefully, that will be before I need to start worrying about re-coiling the dang things.

I've never used anything but plain ole Kanthal in my CLRs, mostly 28g. Haven't had any problem. I'm already regretting saying that.
