Ego-t jump directly to a mechanical? good decision?

vaping for about 3-4weeks now... consuming around 1ml per day...
sometimes (like drinking with friends) i can reach around 2ml per day...
Using a "unregulated" Ego-T PT 1100mah and a CE5 clearomizer...
So i am pretty new to vaping...

Been reading reviews and watching youtube vids about other types of PVs...
And most are pointing at mechanicals as the pinnacle of PVs...
- SLR gives better flavor and more vapor productions...
- No wires and electronic stuff... so more durable...

Local Buy and Sell site (in my country - PH) i can see people selling their VV (like lavatubes) and mostly RFS (reason for selling) is they are switching over to mechanicals...

so is it a good decision for a newbie to jump directly to a mechanical?

If it's something your interested in buy it and try it. Keep your ego s around though, because as your figuring out your new toys you have your reliable and already know how to use toys to keep you from getting frustrated. Honestly though, my opinion is to get a vv mod to start with for the protection that you need. Especially when it comes to learning how to build RBA s because if you don't assemble them right and hook them up to your PV and use them you can ruin your new toy. I'd find a PV with a Resistance check on it to check your ohms and go from there. After you get some practice in on how to do it safely than move on to mechanical JMO though.

A Mech Mod was my first PV. I bought it because:
durability
no electronics to fail
easy and inexpensive to repair
long battery life
inexpensive battery replacement
solid 3.7 volts performance
could be used in full size (18650) mode or smaller stealth (18350) mode

I've now had it for 1 1/2 yrs and it still looks and fires as great as the first day. Had to replace a firing pin once and that's it. Yes it has lived up to what I was expecting but I most certainly wouldn't call it the pinnacle of PVs. If you want something go ahead and purchase a Mech Mod but don't expect too much of a diff over your Pass Through in terms of performance.

Get a Genesis style atomizer and a mech mod.

A mech does not make much sense without something you cant rebuild, and heres why. It is well known that different juices call for different wattage. To adjust wattage you either adjust voltage or adjust resistance. Since with a mech you cant adjust voltage, you need an RBA to adjust resistance.

A mech is great if you are comfortable with tinkering around with wicks and coils. Otherwise one step down from it - VAMO or Provari or Zmax, those kind of replaceable variable power big mods - is the best choice. Those can be used with pretty much anything, since you have control over the power output.

I think it really depends on what kind vape you're after and how you feel about the hobby aspect of vaping. Some might enjoy the mechanical tinkering of things, and others prefer finely tuned electronic devices.

Personally, I love an advanced mod with lots of options and ability to change my vape up at the click of a button. You can get great electronic mods at such a cheap price these days that I'm not worried at all that the device won't last as long as a purely mechanical mod. But just as important is the look and feel of a device. Aesthetics are important to many, including myself.

To me, I think the pinnacle of vaping would be an electronic hybrid - VW in a seamless hybrid unit with either a futuristic steel look or a steampunk brass and copper look. I haven't seen one, but if it exists, I'm completely certain it's 5 or 10 times the price I can afford :D

problems i heard from genesis type (tank rbas) are prone to leaking if not in standing position...
so i would not be able to carry them on the go... :(

they don't leak that much with thicker juices. they leak a bit but not that bad. i can't vape anything else besides my aga now so a bit of leaking is not that much of a problem for me

Mine has never leaked unless I pull the fill screw (which people do to prevent vapor lock when they have improperly made wicks). If your going to get into a mechanical mod i would do your homework first. I just bought my first mech mod an iSeason and I absolutely love it (only problem is replacing the spring with a brass one to lessen the voltage drop). If your going to get into mechanical mods your also going to want to look into rebuilding. Unless you want to use a Kick or similar (Stomp, Crown, Etc) you won't be able to customize your voltage/wattage without building your own coils to tune things into your best vape. RBAs will also help you progress I used to vape at 6 watts, I'm upto 12 now and that means a much lower resistance coil.

I actually haven't gone to the hardware store yet but if you check the iSeason thread although an exact size hasn't been determined (as of this post) a lot of people are reporting you can simply pick up a brass spring from a hardware store and stretch it out. I actually have a custom fit screw mod coming for it (hoping on it today). Otherwise the iSeason is the most beautiful PV I have ever owned.
