+1 on wet burns and unflavored juice to clean out an atty of any type.
And it's so easy to label the bottle for your cleaning solution, stick the label on and leave it blank :)

+1 on the term "wet burn"
+10 on the label tip, you have just saved me money on markers :D

OK UPDATE: New Method that seems to work (for me that is) this is a built from my original mentioned method and the reevaluation of the "wetburn"

1. take the tank out of the ego-T atty
2. drip 7-8 drops of straight PG
3. activate the ego battery and after a second or two tilt the device upside down and shake over something to catch the drips (still holding button till cut off or louder sizzle is heard)
4. if louder sizzle isn't heard reactivate the button.. NOTE you have to beable to know the difference between a flooded atty activated and a dry atty being activated sounds as not to reach a dry burn state.

5. repeat steps 1-4 one more time if your atty is real gunked up.
6. take atty off of device and blow from connector end out.

disclaimer: this may be not be advisable for the first time user, for one needs to know how an atty works at different stages of it's life. This also might not be everyones preferred method. Performed at user's risk :D

This is something I will try. I have a bottle of straight PG with no nic. I had a bottle of some juice that was 100% VG. It was empty except for some sitting at the bottom that was stubborn to get out. I did not want to waste any juice so I put about .5ml of the PG in to "loosen" it up and then put it into a tank atty. It still had some of the flavor altho more subtle. I rather enjoyed it! I will try this to clean my tank atties and may even start going flavorless now and then to keep them clean. Will also have the added benefit of extending my juice stash. :)

Thanks,
This makes more sense to me than the other 1000 threads and procedures for cleaning.
While reading this, I filled a tank with only PG and went to town.
I was able to toot to my hearts content without a nic overdose.
I think I tasted every flavor I ever ran through it.
This will become my way of keeping the plumbing clean.
I'll give it a couple weeks and try to report back.

...and see how long I can push it with out cleaning.LGD

I've been following this thread, just got a bottle of each (PG and VG), and am anxious to try. So lightgeoduck, how has your procedure held up? Changed anything from your 2nd post (drip and tip we'll call it :) ) ?

It seems to be working like a charm, for me at least. I am still on the same atty for a few weeks. I tend to stay on flavorless more often, but I do put in a flavored tank from time to time... and the "drip and tip" as you have called it :D.. seems to help out well, but it is kind of scary since I can't see the glow like I would with normal atties.

as far as the D and T

I wouldn't use VG because it is a bit too thick.. and doesn't flow like pure PG does. I have a collection bottle for the used PG, so I can reuse it a few more times and save on my PG... I would use the used PG to degunk and do a final with a few drops of PG to clean it out. Blow and back to vaping..

I am sure not everyone will like this method.. or will suggest there choice of method, but it does seem to work... and IMO safer than dry burning (though I do that to standard atties as well :D ).

Well it seems that I will be getting a bottle of PG next time I buy...

I have also had a loss of flavor on my Ego T. I got just started smoking an extra flavor liquid from FreedomsmokeUSA. You can get 2x extra flavoring as well, The only one I've actually tried so far is american spirit which I don't like with my 510 attys but it is exceptional in the ego t. If need be I'll just keep doing that, I like the tank system :)

When The 'duck' and I refer to 'flavorless' we are actually talking about using flavorless liquid... Just in case... And not being 'flavorless' out of eGo T's 'loss of flavor'...!

I like this idea!
In fact at one point early on with my tank (well only 3 weeks ago but seems like eternity) i misplaced the tank and got a dry burn going it tasted pretty bad. I dripped 80% pg 20% vg on burned, blew drianed did it again and it perked right up clean and fresh. that atty lasted about a week and then got a permanent burnt taste. I finally tried cleaning with alcohol water rinse but i think i've forced the wick down with too much water pressure.

looking at it this light most of my atty problems have come from getting bored with a clear menthol mint mix and deciding to spice it up with cloves, cinnamon, cocao, coffee etc. i tried dry burns, alcohol and water rinses but usually wrecked the atomizer at some point. I think i'll try alcohol (vodka rinse) PG flood, and wetburn.

+1 on the term wetburn.

i tried this on a burnt and clogged atomizer last night. helped a little bit, then i rinsed it in rum (didn't have an clear alcohol, rinsed with water--slightly better air flow but still burnt. Did about 5 cycles flushing with PG/VG and then blew it out. back tonight after a day of drying and its not so bad tasting--still clogged/weak burn but did chase out the burnt taste. I'm going to add this to my resurrection routine (which i only do when i am almost out of attys and cartos--which is not a situation i like being in--mail screwed up and sent my package to another city--but now it's back on track and i will have fresh stock again. In general i find it hard to nurse along/resurrect a fading atty. I've never gotten one to come all the way back and when i have a fresh one in the house i usually break down and break it out. for these t attys i'm going to invest a bit more time--i have $50 bucks wrapped up in em and i barely got 3 weeks out of them. Either they are really junk or they flooded so many times (due to the leaky tanks) they got gunky as hell. I want to bring them back as drip atomizers-- i actually like them for that as they are kind of halfway between a cart and a drip since the atty itself willhold and atomize at least 10 maybe more drops.

Yeah Oakland... the wet burn or the in between vaping of unflavored juice.. might not resurrect a total gunk up, but if done on a routine basis (after a few standard vapes ) it should prolong the atties life.. minimizing the risk of harming the atty that other methods might do if done too often.

i've only been back to vaping about 5 weeks (after an analog relapse of some 6 months) and i'm not quite ready to go flavorless (though i could see that will be an option down the road once the analog demon has been truly put to rest) but possibly if i mix up a supercharged 36 mg flavorless it might actually be satisfying. I have definitely come to the conclusion that my juice preferences (cinnamon clove, cocoa etc) has a lot of bearing on the reason my experience has been a bit subpar compared to how i hear most on the forums talking about the staying power of their attys. that plus when i get on a tear i vape very heavily and can plow through 1-2 mls of juice very fast--even though my weekly usage is pretty average i think (25-30 ml.) I imagine i heat these things a bit past the optimum-- under my new regine (cheap atty exotic flavor--expensive atty/cart claen mint menthol) i will keep two pvs on hand and try to avoid the overheating.

Thanks for the tip LGD! I have been vaping a tank of straight PG (no nic or flavor) thru my tank atties about once a week and it seems to be doing the trick! The taste isn't really bad at all and I also discovered after vaping the straight PG that my taste buds get a good resurrection also!!!

That;s great to hear.. LOL @ taste ressurection... I agree it's like wine tasters cleansing the palate . It's what all the Vaping connoisseurs do :D

@LGD: I'd like to try your method but I can't find PG locally so would have to order it online. May try Tractor Supply or located a Feed Supply store.

I know you said VG is too thick but could you recommend anything to thin it just so I can use your method, i.e. distilled water or even vodka?

Thanks

I am not an expert in cutting VG besides using PG, but I would venture to guess that pure grain alcohol would be the best choice. My best guess would be the alcohol would help in the cleaning. I am sure distilled water would work just fine as well.

You could search the DIY eliquid sub-forum, or hopefully someone reading would give you the exact mixture to match the viscosity of a PG/VG mix.

Hopefully that helped.. and I wish you luck on the effort.
