I ripped one of mine apart but haven't done anything with it.

Fatpomp, how did you remove the twist dial and potentiometer ? is it glued or a pressure fit to the battery tube? Could we get a close up picture of that end? Would you suggest removing them from the inside, or pulling it from the outside?
Thanks!

The ego switch unit is fairly popular for mods on the German forum , but I'm not so sure I've seen it paired with any AW batteries. Given that they are prone to failure if you go below 2Ω, I would be worried about putting a lot of current through the circuitry, and the thin wires used in the ego would be limiting too. Charging however, should work well.

Ok here are more pics for you guys. Let me know if you want any others. The only part i don't have is connector from the top I used that for a box mod.

I pried the dial at the bottom off but the pot comes out through the top.

 So are all four wires soldered to the microchip (two from the battery and two from pot)? If so, can't we just remove the battery assembly without prying out the pot by disconnecting the wire and solder it back on? Thank you for posting the pics, will definitely try this mod once my Twist dies. :p

But, seriously, the twist would be a good candidate for a mod for those that really don't want to wire up a boost board and pot.
The twist comes with an eGo compatible connector. DUH :), a cell with two wires (one red one and one black one) and isn't all that expensive. Would allow you to be a little creative with the enclosure.
I bought the wife 3 with the hope that I could take one to experiment with. Rotating 3 seems to be just about right for her so there goes that idea :)

As far as current capability I think the twist will die from the human interface end first. Some folks can kill a PV with a little battery just as easily as one with a big battery.

Even in the case of the little stock battery. There is an incredibly over engineered mod that is milled and drilled and goes for $600 that rather unfortunately uses ego circuitry at it's heart. Perhaps this is exactly why I don't recall the name of it.

I saw that. A work of art nonetheless.

thanks everyone whos replying im getting some great info here and learning a lot from this thread.
im sure the battery would last longer than the electronics itself but i feel that would be about the same as most mods but when that died depending on the housing you made for it, it should be easy enough to just rip it apart to get ya AW back.
it seems like it would be a worthwhile experiment for people who have accidently over charged am ego twist making the stock battery useless.

so if the ego circuits arnt capable of handling the current from the AW i wonder if it would be a simple matter of just resisting it before it hits the circuits
