I will be purchasing for the first time. Tried son in laws while visiting a few months ago but he said got ripped off (smoke to live) and since switched to eGo twist which Ive read good things about. Having a horrible time grasping all the terms, acronyms, feeling overwhelmed by so much info and just looking to find simplest version checklist of what I should purchase in addition to the ego twist battery. Granted Ive memory issues so hard to remember stuff bits and pieces to get the big picture. Would appreciate a full but simple list of what to get, literally what to get like brand name because will need to in order to look it up to buy it. Hear about different types of using the liquid but not sure if they all work with the twist or if certain methods recommended for it. Know im not even using the right terms, sorry. Found e-cigg.org which is only online but Philly / nearby so should be a quick ship to me. Finishing carton of real cigs and trying to be prepared so when done, can switch over to vaping. Thanks in advance

Welcome to ECF & congrats on deciding to switch!

If you order an eGo Twist you'll also need a charger, generally referred to as a Rapid Charger. It has to be no more than 420ma output to be safe for eGo style batteries.

Your also going to need a delivery system. Which one is best for you will require some experimenting and buying new equipment. I'd say get a few cartomizers & a clearomizer or two like the Kanger T3 or Vision Vivi Nova.

As far as liquid, would you like something kind of similar to tobacco (getting e-liquid to replicate a cigarette precisely just isn't possible) or do you want a sweeter liquid such as cocktails or baked goods.

Visiting a local brick & mortar store can give you a lot of valuable information face-to-face and they'll generally let you try out devices & liquid to help you discover what your after.

As far as abbreviations on ECF, most of the popular ones will have a pop-up definition of you hover your cursor over them. Such as TH, PGA, heads, etc.

Hope this helps :) your in the proper place for finding out information

This is a totally understandable problem.

Going to visit a store in person would definitely help. You can search at Electric Cigarette | Eliquid | Supplies | Electronic Cigarette | Ejuice | Vapor Search USA to find one in or near Philly. You can visit the E-Cigg.org guys if you schedule an appointment -- check out https://www.ecigg.org/Articles.asp?ID=83 and send them an email.

An Ego Twist is a great way to start out, and you can probably get an Ego Twist starter kit that will give you everything you need to get started. But here's everything you'd need:

Two Ego Twists
One charger (which might just plug into USB; you can also get a wall charger)
Some cartomizers that are compatible with the Ego (which hold the e-juice)
A few flavors of juice to start with

That's not too much stuff, and it's simple enough that you could put that starter kit together yourself without too much trouble.

Thanks for the info. I may do the visit thing by appointment, thanks for the link but with the after hours and a bit of a drive, hope to find it online. Called and they assured me they will ship next day. Appreciate map search but no locations unfortunately near me for B/M stores.

Is there a specific cartomizer that's recommended or well liked?
This page -> LINK has many with different terms to describe them which I don't understand and some have 5 for price that's only twice price of single ones on the page.

At risk of sounding pathetic, would really appreciate just being told which cartomizer to get or which as a newbie you'd get.
ALSO Im open to other sites to buy from, just happened upon this one because came up on google map search.

For starting out, I always recommend a Vivi-Nova tank. On an Ego twist, it doesn't matter which resistance head you use, as you will be able to adjust the power to your liking. Also, cartomizers as recommended previously, are decent. There are some against them, but they work well for my needs. You may want to look into getting a cheap carto tank, such as the smoktech. They are pretty cheap, but work. Just make sure you read about carto punching, and carto tanks, if you go that route.

::edit:: As far as brand goes, I like the Boge LR 510 carto's. These are pretty much considered disposable, and a pack of 5 is fairly priced. Try a few different brands to see what works for you ::edit::

Hope that helps ya. Good luck finding what you like!

Hi

I'm easily confused, so I hope this makes since. A cartomizer ("carto" for short) looks like this inside:

Cartomizer.jpg

You put juice in the top, which soaks into the batting (filler material). As the juice comes in contact with the heat coil it makes vapor. There are different sizes (how much liquid they hold) and manufacturers (which can make them cost more), but they are all basically the same.

If you don't want to keep filling the carto up with juice, you can get a "carto tank," which is a tank (for the liquid) that a carto sildes into. There are holes drilled into the carto, so the juice in the tank will be drawn into the batting around the heat coil. Cartos for tanks, that come pre-punched tend to be more expensive.

One more vote for the Kanger T3/BCC Tabac. Get a couple of extra coils, 2.2-2.4Ω, so when one coil gets dirty, you can just replace it and install a brand new one in your clearomizer. Another advantage of the T3 over the ViVi Nova is that T3 is eGo threaded and the coil is on the bottom, which, I believe, is just a better design.

eGo 3ml Tabac BCC (Bottom Coil Changeable) Clearomizer

Oh, and get a wall adapter. It's a safer option than charging from your computer's USB port.

USB to Wall or Car Adapter

Good luck and welcome to ECF.

I wouldn't recommend any of those. Honestly. There are better choices. If you want to try a filler-type cartomizer, try a 510 single coil LR Boge or Smoktech. But remember, they are disposable and can only be refilled a few times.

A very belated but sincere THANK YOU to all who responded - the posts are just the direction Ive needed plus helpful things I hadn't thought to consider. Once more --- thank you for the suggestions and links!

Im thinking to buy from cignot as they seem the one site to have everything Im looking if I correctly understood prior suggestions.
WARNING --- Some MORE questions --
1) Is Cignot pretty reputable?
2) Any reason I would want a lower mah 1000 Twist? Thought it best because longer lasting battery
3) Does the 1000mah twist match up with items (below) that Im hoping I matched up well based on prior post suggestions and would you suggest different quantities for start up?
LINK Qty2 Joye eGo-C TWIST - Manual 1000 mAh
LINK Qty1 Boge 510 Cartomizer 5 Pack - Black
LINK Qty1 Joye eGo/eGo-t Fast USB Charger

4) KANGER REPLACEMENT - are the two below 5packs the same, cignots is $8, vaporbeast is $22
LINK Qty1 Kanger T3 5 pack 2.5 Ohm Coils
LINK 5 KANGER T3 Replaceable Bottom Coil Atomizer Heads

5) KANGER Below are with & without metal cover - are they both pretty much same? Didn't know if no metal made easier to read, with metal made more durable or really not much difference
LINK Kanger T3 w/ 2.5 Ohm Coil - Smoke
LINK Kanger T3 w/ 2.5 Ohm Coil - Black Metal over clear tank

One of the best vendors here. Vicky is a joy to work with, they have a subforum here where you can get all your questions answered. But they are pricier than other vendors. Your choice.

2) Any reason I would want a lower mah 1000 Twist? Thought it best because longer lasting battery

The physical size. 650 mAh Twist is the size of a regular 1000 mAh eGo battery. With a T3 attached, your 1000 mAh Twist will resemble a flute. :p If you're a guy, that probably isn't a problem though. I have the 650.

YES

LINK Qty1 Joye eGo/eGo-t Fast USB Charger

YES. I suggest you also buy a wall adapter. Much safer alternative than charging via your computer port. https://www.cignot.com/product_p/acc-ac0-usb.htm

4) KANGER REPLACEMENT - are the two below 5packs the same, cignots is $8, vaporbeast is $22
LINK Qty1 Kanger T3 5 pack 2.5 Ohm Coils
LINK 5 KANGER T3 Replaceable Bottom Coil Atomizer Heads

This is weird. A single T3 coil usually costs ~$3, so 5 should cost ~&15. Both prices seem to be way off. I'd go with Cignot's price. ;) Unless it's a typo...

They are the same inside (plastic tank), the difference is purely cosmetic, but the MT3s (the metal ones) are much heavier and you can't see the juice inside as easily as with the clearos.

If you were like me...then it's all greek or latin or any language you don't understand. I got an Ego C kit and it works wonderfully. I haven't picked up a stinkie since I received it. I still have a half pack....security blanket for now. My wife and my son have both taken up the new hobby. The advice of the more experienced and helpful posters is great....if you understand it. I am just starting to learn while vaping. Been 12 days and loving it. Get an Ego kit and vape....you'll understand a lot more once it's in your hands. Then you can experiment and test different mods if you like and have the Ego batteries as backup. They are not wrong, very helpful and very knowledgeable.....but when it comes to old farts like ourselves  what we need is SIMPLE. Sorry for the old fart reference...I figured you are a father in law....you've got some years on ya. Good luck and may our paths cross again.

HI Chimsweep! I have my eGo batteries and eGo-C atties and changeable coils, I still like them a lot, but I think that Sun is looking for a variable voltage battery. And what he's about to buy isn't any more complicated than the eGo-C; like you said, once you have it in your hand, you'll know what to do with it. :)

Happy vaping!

Ego twist is a good one to start with, i suggest pairing it with a mini vivi nova 2.5 tank system, you shouldn't be disappointed, good luck

Hi Dereko and welcome!

Mini ViVi nova is a nice choice, too. Some people prefer the top coil because of the extra warmth it provides. Others swear by the bottom coil placement. I say try them all and see what suits you best!

I started with an eRoll, it's a nice piece of ecig for super discrete vaping.. However it's overpriced and a bit fiddly. I personally don't get the whole "you don't need the clearomizer hassle" argument, they're super easy and intuitive to use IMO. My second kit was a cheap all-in-one CE4 beginner kit and it worked flawlessly for the price. You simply can't go wrong with those, if you can bear the "OMG what is that machine you're sucking on" comments.
I have now switched to Kanger style bottom-coil clearos and I love them but beware, they can be fiddly for a beginner and may require wick adjustments, depending on QC and the juice in use. There are plenty of threads from frustrated users... It's definitely not a game breaking problem but something to keep in mind.
