Hi Birdieman,

Yes everything's fine so far

I used the Kanger MT3 and it was straight forward.

Regarding the cartomizers/clearomizers, I have 5 of them in the kit as well as 5 replacement coils/heads

How often should these be replaced typically and how would you know that it is time to replace one, does it just stop working after a period of time?

I hope that everything is okay ktel, you will find all kind of answers here. Regarding e-juice from my other post, you can try other ones that is at CanVape or try another vendor if you want. Everyone taste bud is different and you just have to figure out what you like and it may take some time. A RY4 from one vendor can be different from another vendor unless they get their sources at the same place.

Here is instruction for refill:

How to refill ejuice?
* Unscrew the round mouthpiece from the clearomizer
* Fill 1.4ml-1.6ml of ejuice from the side
* Do NOT pour the ejuice into the narrow metal tube in the middle. The narrow metal tube is only for airflow.
* Screw the drop tip back in.
* Please wait 1-2 minutes for the ejuice to feed into the coil before you start to vape.

Hi ktel, I'm not birdieman but can answer your Q on when to replace the heads.
When you notice a significant decrease in performance.
Either lack of flavour, lack of vapour, bad flavour or it just isn't as good a vape as it once was.

The heads can be dryburned to clean the coils off and I also rewick the heads with cotton
to extend the life of each coil head. Generally I do both every 2 weeks or so and that extends the life of each 2 dollar head exponentially. I hate throwing stuff away if I can squeeze more life outta them. One head lasted me for many months doing this. I vape mainly only one flavour though and keep only two stardusts in use at a time.(one for back-up.)

Once I have rewicked a coil with cotton a dryburn cannot be done unless the cotton is removed first.
There's a couple tutorials on the proceedure I use in my blog. Rewicking works for me on the vivi nova
and stardust v3 heads but will probably work on the other types that use silica wicking as well.

Aside from improved performance and longevity, using cotton instead of silica is a safer alternative
as some say there are potential health issues with using silica.

Well Hitmetwice already answered your question. Mainly speaking, if you get a few burnt taste from the clearomizer, first don't change it right away. There are 2 tricks that I used. (1) Try to cover one of the three air holes on the bottom of the MT3, may be too much airflow. (2) Turn the silicon upside down on the replacement head.

I actually still have 2 Kanger T3 (MT3 is with the metal frame) and both I turned the silicon upside down. Still using them for a few weeks with the same juice and no problem. Of course when you remove the bottom coil, turn it upside down first or else the juice will pour out.

Enjoy.

So I'm now getting a burnt taste

This is only the second day of vaping so I'm assuming I don't need to replace it yet.

What are the main reasons for the burnt taste generally?

Does it need to be cleaned, could it mean I need to add more juice ?

I have been playing around with the voltage a bit on the twist could that be the reason?

Cheers

Silly question but what do you mean by turning the silicon upside down?

I know that it's a learning curve and that I need to perfect the technique of vaping as opposed to regular smoking

I think I'm making progress on that, less of a draw ,which has helped with the throat hit issue that I had initially

Usually the wick is dry and the juice does not get onto the wicks too well. Or the way that you cape also can constitute to the burn taste. Just getting use to vaping than smoking an analog.

Try to turn the silicon upside down. Experimenting definitely will not hurt.
