When the eGO and Tornado first came out late last year, it wasn't too much of a hassle referring the model as the 'eGO/Tornado' (or TorneGO I saw once). However, for some time now, there have been several different models (e.g., Riva, Hello 016) using wide, high-mAh batteries. And recently, there have been models for the Kr8 cartomizer and/or 901 atomizer: CigEasy's Elegant, VaporNine's Defender, EastMall's Riva-901.

To me, "eGO-type" is not cutting it. This is a category of models (like penstyle, mini, and super-mini, and mod) that needs a real name. [For example, mods are not called 'Screwdriver-like' or 'NicoStick-like'.]

I have proposed "Fat Batts" for the obvious reason. ViZi calls them "Custom" mods on his site. [In the context of his website on mods, that name makes sense, but these are not battery mods (i.e., housings for generic batteries).]

I'd love to see a discussion about this and hope that our community can reach a consensus on a meaningful category name. You've seen the name I propose. What are your ideas?

Mega Battery is a common term (as most use the term 450+ mega battery sized, referring to 450-1300 mAh).

I believe by early spring 2011 we'll see a whole new line, something where the technology takes them to slim sizing the mega batteries. They'll be longer, but sleeker in diameter. Take the JSB Diamond Vgo (aka the LUX, et al). It has the diameter of your average sized sharpie while at 900mAh in size. Yet the Xpower is a bit fatter, more like the diameter of a dry erase marker, at the same 900mAh power.

I think the new Ego 1300 mah fits your description. It is not as fat as the 1300 Riva or 1300 Hello. I just received mine yesterday and it is awesome looking and very comfortable to hold. It might seem a little large at first but it is only slightly longer and larger than a penstyle.

I think the problem is there may (in the near future) be more cone using models in different shapes and sizes. There are a ton of 1300mAh eGo knockoffs flooding the market right now. In a few more months, something totally new will come out to beat the battery size, shape, and mAh rating of the 650-1300mAh ratings. The Hello-016 and the Xpower are the only two to NOT look just like the Janty eGo. (There may be another, its name eludes me at the moment, but I think it uses an 808 fitting).
There`s even a KR808 mega battery with upwards of 1300mAh now. It`s basically a mega eGo battery style with an 808 fitting.

I see that alluding to the cone is popular. However, I have reservations about it. It is not the essential attribute of these high-mAh batteries ... just as my "fat" batt is off, as was pointed out here.

Indeed, the essential attribute is high mAh, whatever the size or shape. Not voltage or power (these are all relatively wimpy in that department), but mAh.

So I urge: something catchy related to high-mAh. [tinear already has usurped "mAhmba."] Not necessarily "mAh," but how mAh translates to the vaping experience: vape a long time without recharging.

Don - the ego has its own look...with that said to reference it as a "Ego-type" (IMHO) is justified. We have to consider the look and design of this particular model. If we start lumping battery mah ratings then I think things get way too confusing. At this point maybe just continuing to call these particular styles as "Ego-type" might be the most relevant and less confusing.

Reading through the several posts calling for "cone style", I'm looking at my 'TorneGo' with its mega cylinder atomizer, scratching my head ... "cone style?" I know there is a cone you can use with a 510 atty, and there are cone shaped atomizers made for it. But, as Don said, it doesn't define the device.

Interesting thread, with some interesting suggestions. I'm not very creative but will stay tuned for something catchy and mutually agreeable to emerge. Whatever you want to call it, it's become my favorite at least for now. :) I didn't know they'd been around longer than I've been vaping, so I've learned at least that from the thread. Wish I'd found them as my first PV.

I don't think the eGo is only related to "mAh". From my point of view, a PV is distinguished by its shape but characterized by its atty. A standard eGo supports many atty models (standard 510 and eGo mega atty's type A and B), as well as many battery sizes. A 1300 mAh eGo battery with a cylinder mega atty is very different from a standard battery and a 510 atty with the cone. This brings me the word "chameleon". Also, it resembles more a cigar or a pipe than a cigarette. Joining both meanings together we can have something like "chamepipe" or "pipeleon". Anyway I like to call mine by its own name "tornado".
