Guessing here, but as I remember CL Ti coils have a resistance of 0.4ohm. Probably has to do with the proximity of the resistance of coil being on the upper edge of the Variable Temperature Mode's Resistance range. My 30w egrip VT changes back to vw mode when i put in a ti 0.4 coil. Anyosne know why this might be happening? It asks "new coil" and reads the correct resistance but it still changes back to vw from ti mode.
Id appreciate any info you guys might have.
Thanks

Try pulling the coil & base and cleaning the base and coil contacts. May solve your issue. What is the ohms display reading on the mod? it is assumed you are set to Ti mode and not Ni.
Not sure what else to try. Remember someone else talking about same a while ago but can't find it now and can't remember resolution. The VT was an abysmal failure on JT's part. ecig.com was giving them away free w/ $100 purchase just to get rid of them. How long have you had the VT? Can you return it?Forgot to reply directly. See above, thanks
I've only had it for three weeks, works great with the other coil but im not sure i like the internal tank with a thousand rubber seals to hold it together anyway. Not sure what else to try. I just got the Egrip 2 based on the Cubis TFTA system and that one is a very solid performer once you find a good anti-spitback drip-tip.
Wow awesome ill try that now, thanks so much for your help @Tpat591 you've been very generous with your time.ok, what I found is that if the vt does not see an expected change in resistance associated with the temperature rise of a ti coil after the button is pressed it will kick into normal variable wattage mode. if it is a stock coil from JT in use, it is most likely caused by poor electrical connection caused dirty leads where the coil legs contact the coil base pin and housing.
The person I remember who had the problem switched Ti coils and it worked fine with a new coil. He later pulled the gold pin from the first coil and cleaned the wire leads at the insulator with vodka on a cotton ball and reinstalled the insulator and gold pin and was able to get the coil working in TC mode.
Best I can do for you @dellsco, hope it helps you get through the next few weeks.
Let me know if it works. Good luck!Wow awesome ill try that now, thanks so much for your help @Tpat591 you've been very generous with your time.
That is how I did it. Center punched slot to avoid drifting. Small pilot hole first. Increase with progressively larger bits.Hey @Tpat591,
While I wait for my eGrip2, I'd like to try the airflow drill hack you did.
I have no power tools, will a simple drill with a proper bit do it?
I parked at a Home Depot today, thought I'd ask someone there if they'd help me do it, but when I unscrewed and inspected the CL base, I got a bit worried about how to drill it and came back to check here first.
Should I just place the base with the coin slot facing upwards and press the drill on the center of the slot?
