i know it's not the best coil. Lol oh well...maybe I will try the organic cotton. Do you know if Walgreens sells it? Thanks!

Walgreens will sell organic cotton balls. This pic makes my head hurt. IMO the wicking is the problem with that build, too much of it and its blocking the channels.

Make a proper micro coil and run cotton through it. I run cotton inside the coil so that it just barely slides back and forth, and trim the ends. Wet each end of the cotton a little, screw on the bottom cone with the wicks facing upwards so they jut out the top of the chimney cone. Cut off any cotton that sticks out above the chimney cap, or you can leave a LITTLE reaching out above. Then use a tool and press the wick down on each side so that it is laying against the positive post base, push the cotton against the deck and away from being on top of the channel. Then saturate things a little bit, screw on the top chimney cap, put it back together, and fill.

Thanks. Yeah I did use the organic cotton, and built a really nice micro coil (seriously! Lol) all works great except I'm getting a little gurgling, and the flavor seems a bit muted. Any ideas?

Take photos of your builds, if I could see it it would be easier to diagnose. I have never had a problem with muted flavor on a kayfun.... My guess would again be too much wick/cotton. With a properly wicked build you should be getting a relatively loose airy draw, great flavor, and good + consistent vapor production. What really works is wetting the wicks and pressing them back against the posts, away from the channel. Not on top of it. If it is on top of it, it could cause the problems you're having. The only way I've had builds work out where the wick is directly over the channel, are builds where the cotton is only very loosely pressed down around each side of the base.

Take your airflow control screw and completely remove it, this is what I do to get a better vape and proper airflow.

Ok. I took the advice of using organic cotton. Built a nice micro coil (1.5ohm) and fired her up. All works great EXCEPT now I have gurgling! Ugggg! Any ideas??

Too much juice when filling, I always some room on top after filling, screwing the screw back down and flipping it back up...
You can try this when I get gurlging also
get paper towel near the air hole...hit the fire button and blow, not inhale..this blow out the excess juice..repeat..until no more juice comes out..

BTW...most people don't get it perfect off the bat....you will need to experiment with position of the cotton on the deck, etc..thickness,

Idea #1. Never fill it from the top, use the fill port in the bottom. If you did fill from the top, empty it, wipe it off and re-fill from the bottom.

Idea#2. Open up your air flow screw more, if it isn't already.

Idea#3. Check all the o-rings, especially the one in the cap, clean and replace them as necessary. Make sure the chimney assembly is tightened all the way down. Empty it, clean it, put it back together, then cover the air hole at the bottom, and try to draw. There should be no air flow.

It might take some fiddling and experimenting to get it just right with cotton, but it will happen. Good luck.

Thanks bud! I do fill from the bottom. I'll try your suggestions however!

1.5 ohm maybe too much, the coil takes longer too heat up for me,i have to a 1 ohm wrap.Im using mech mods.If you have a VW mod you should be ok with 1.5 ohm.Are your wicks over the channels or tucked in the corners of the deck?

Until my batteries get here for my Nemesis, I'm using my Provari. That's why I don't want to go too low with the ohms

time,

that build looks pretty good.

for me I had too many dry hits on my builds until I increased the coil diameter to 5/64 from 1/16 on my builds around 1.0 ohm. I may be the only one. Just keep this in mind if you find you get dry hits.

Thanks bce. I solved the dry hit problem, I'm just having gurgling issues now.

A more effective, but nastier method, is to keep a piece of paper towel in your hands, fire the mod and suck out of the airflow hole that is leaking, you'll get all the excess liquid out and just spit it out.

hope this helps. Yes I do have adequate room between the coil and hole (not pictured)

As for what someone else suggested about not filling from the top, in all my experience I have always filled from the top, without any problems whatsoever.

That is a long coil with a ton of wraps. What ohm reading are you getting on that thing? does that thing take a few seconds to heat up?

And those wicks don't look properly saturated and look a bit more dense than I usually make my cotton wicks. And it looks like you've got too much cotton over the channels.

completely agreed. To small of a diameter on a coil on Kayfun devices simply doesn't cut it. I have much more success with larger diameter coils.

It's 28 gauge wire, wrapped 11 times with a 1.5ohm reading. I don't want to go much lower until my nemesis is up and rockin'. I'm using a Provari now, so I don't want to go to low. Would 30 gauge wire wrapped a few less times, give me approximately the same ohm reading?

Yeah, 8 wrap 30 gauge should do you nicely. Try wrapping it around a 5/64 bit. All I do is wick it with cotton. Put the chimney on and cut the cotton slightly above the top of the chimney and carefully push it down in place with a small flathead screwdriver. I fill my Russian through the fill port on the bottom.
