The coil in my picture was a 3 strand 32ga coil wrapped on a 5/64 bit, 1 ohm. I am running a 30ga microcoil at 1.8 ohm now, 8 wraps on a 16ga needle (about 1/16"). I am using that so I can use my SVD instead of having to use the ridiculous extension on my VTR. My experience has been the kayfun will tolerate most of what you throw at it pretty well as long as it's above 1 ohm or so. It gets to be too hot of a vape for me much below that. YMMV of course.

Yeah, 8 wrap 30 gauge should do you nicely. Try wrapping it around a 5/64 bit. All I do is wick it with cotton. Put the chimney on and cut the cotton slightly above the top of the chimney and carefully push it down in place with a small flathead screwdriver. I fill my Russian through the fill port on the bottom.

Cool I'll pick up a 5/64 bit tomorrow and see how it goes!

So basically, the higher gauge wire...the less warped are needed?

yes. I always try to keep my wraps around 8-10 no matter what my target resistance is. I adjust my wire gauge accordingly. To increase resistance you either reduce the size of the wire (use a higher gauge wire) or increase the length of the wire used (larger diameter coil or more wraps) or a combo of the two.

Yep, thinner wire, higher gauge. If you are using a Provari, a spool of 30ga is handy to have. I rebuild ProTanks too, so I have it for that. I tried micro coils with 32ga, but it's pretty impossible to work with, hence the twisted wire coil.

Sweet. Just wrapped 8 wraps...30 gauge K...came to 1.5 ohms. I left the cotton wick a little bit longer this time. PERFECT! No dry hits, no gurgling, just pure goodness!

I like Grimm Greens way of wicking it and Ruby Roo has a good vid on how to clear the gurgle. I run mine between 1.2 and 1.4 ohms. 5/64 drill bit. I have better luck with a thick wick too. You still want it to slide through easy but not super easy.

Hey Todd, by chance can you hook me up a link for those vids? Thanks man

Drippers are a different animal. You just have to find something you like there. One bit of advice is don't even waste juice on the stock coil if it comes with one. Pitch it, and build your own. I'll bet that 30ga 1.5 ohm thingy you wrapped for the KFL would be a good place to start...

Make sure the air hole is lined up with the coil, and that the coil isn't positioned below the hole; either in line with it, or slightly higher for more throat hit.

Yep. Last night I attempted a dual coil subohm build in my ehpro KFL+ just to see what the results would be. I made two small diameter .8ohm microcoils and mounted them on the kayfun resulting in a total resistance of .4ohms. Cotton wicking. Ran this on a mech.

What I learned: The Kayfun simply doesn't have the airflow needed to cool a subohm dual coil build. Even after one 5 second drag the outside of the kayfun was ridiculously hot. The vape was too hot. It was a perfect build/wick but just performed really poorly. So as far as I'm concerned, my kayfun style devices are all going to be single coil builds. I can subohm a single coil just fine.

But sub ohm dual coils? No way it just doesn't work.
