Ok here are some pics when I took it apart. Maybe some one can see something I did wrong.

I've had my v2 for a week now and notice the vape is a bit dry and scratchy also. When I use a mini pt2 or Aro after to compare, the smaller tanks are more dense, wet, and smoother. Can't figure it out. Used silica and cotton but same result. Based off all the reviews expected this KLF+ to be my best piece! Interested in this answer also.

Building my fogger 4 tonight, so will compare the 2.

Rebuilt with twisted 28 and diagonal so I could lay the cotton on the deck. Seems better. I did notice on the first one the metal ring above the clear section was not completely snug, maybe not sealing and keeping vacuum. Now I see bubbles come up after each draw.

Great! Sounds like you got it sorted. Another tip on these is to not fill completely full because they seem to wick better if there's a good size air bubble at the top. My (cheese cloth) wick winds up sitting on the shelf like yours, but I usually poke it up through the first section of the chimney, trim it just above, tuck it back down with a small screwdriver. That seems to work a little faster for me.

Exactly how I do it. Did this on my first kayfun build and have never had a single problem with flooding or dry hits. I see people meticulously laying wick down and saturating it with juice before putting the chimney on, to each his own but it seems to take away from precious vape time

Yeah, did seem to take heck of a long time. Still seems to be a dryer vape than the dripper. Oh, is there a trick to getting the center pin air hole lined up? I know the holes in the pin coralate with the screwdriver notch but when I get it tight enouph so the positive block doesn't move the holes are not lined up with the air hole in the base. How do you guys do it?

Just got outta work forced 12 hour day, so my thinking may not be on par... sooo if you look at the center pin the holes in the pin are in the same position that slot is where u screw it in. If you screw it in and the slot lines up with your air hole in your base you good. If screwdriver slot off by like 90 degrees the hole.in the pin will not line up and u will have a tight vape.

So I seem to get too, I'll say, misty hits from my Ehpro. The first coil I built was great, but every coil/wick combo I've tried since then is too misty. I get a fine spray of juice in my mouth. I tried upping the watts, but then I just get hotter mist. I prefer around 7 watts. I don't get any leaks (and this is after losing the o-ring for the fill screw and just using the screw without it) or flooding, and I get lots of vapor. Also get lots of popping. I think the first coil was around 2 ohms, and the ones since are lower, current one is 1.5. Also the first was 32 ga wrapped around a double strand of Ekowool. Ones since are with cotton and 30 ga, although I had the same problem trying ekowool again. Suggestions?

Edit to add that it's a lite+, version 1. The drip tip that came with it is too loose, and I don't have an o-ring to make it fit better, so I don't use that.

My first Kayfun was a POS. It frequently leaked out the air hole; it didn't hit very well TBH -- although it was better than my Aerotank. Which is one of the reasons I'm so impressed by this one.

Like most things, I've found that it hits much better on my mech than on my VV/VW. Although, when I was using the VV/VW, I was generally pushing around 10.5w on a 1.5-1.0 ohm coil. Presently I'm running a 0.7 ohm twisted 30g (so like, 6a and 23w on a new bettery), and it's the ..... Smooth, full... just perfect. The duty cycle on the VAMO was certainly causing sub-par vaper, more popping, and an overall lower quality vape... but that's just how those 33.3 devices are.

The way I set it up:

  • Make a micro coil; wrap the leads around the screws and tighten down.
  • Straighten and center the coil, perpendicular to the screws, about 3.5mm above the air hole.
  • Check the resistance
  • Fire the coil till red, and squeeze the coil tight.
  • Form a cotton wick, and feed it through the coil -- not too tight and not too loose. Cut of ends so you only have maybe 2.5cm of wick on each end.
  • Pull the wick up, and thread the chimney body around the build, screw it down.
  • Push the wick down by the juice channels; re-straighten the coil.
  • Re-check the resistance to make sure you don't have a short against the chimney.
  • Saturate the coil and wicks.
  • Put on the top of the chimney.
  • Re-check the resistance to make sure you don't have a short against the chimney.
  • Assemble the tank completely.
  • Hold the tank upside-down and fill it no nearly full through the fill port. Screw the screw into the fill port.
  • Attack the tank to your device.
  • Vape.

And while that process still leaked on my Tobeco, I;ve never had a single leak on the EHPro, which just hits like a dream as well.

I set mine up similar. But 2.5 cm of wick on each end seams like too much. Mine is probably closer to that total, less than that total even. Should I be using more cotton? I am using a Vamo, so maybe that's my problem. I don't get any leaking, dry hits, or flooding, just misty. Maybe that's just the nature of the Kayfun with cotton. Maybe I'll try another Ekowool coil.

And thanks for the electrical tape tip, didn't think of that.

lol I was just guessing on the length of the cotton... It is just enough to barely reach the deck.
:D

I use organic cotton

TBH

my vape-life has improved dramatically since ditching my VV/VW and moving to mechs

I LOVE my mechs -- have three clones at present: HCigar Nemesis, Infinite Stingray, some BS Maraxus

after fiddling the Stingray works well, the Nemie worked great rt away after adjusting the pins... the Maraxus sucks, but that's my fault - if you ever wanna get one get the version that has SOLID brass (not plated) sections.

So I think I mostly figured out the misty hits. I forgot that I had closed the airflow up some when playing around with it after the first tank. So I opened it up, and it's not so misty now, less popping, and I think the flavor is slightly better now. I knew it had to be user error since it worked fine the first build/tank. I'm glad I can stop fooling around with wicks and coils as I think they were all fine (well mostly all fine since the cotton yarn didn't work as well, using cotton balls just fine now). It's still a little more misty than I prefer, maybe I'll take the screw all the way out. But I think it's pretty airy as is (which is why I had closed it up some before)

with the air screw all the way out you actually get a lot more flow than with it only a little in, cause you have to points of entrance - the side and the bottom; however, to have air get in the bottom hole you either need a device with air-channels on the cap or you have to not screw it flush.

I think a tighter draw works better on higher ohms than on lower; at lower resistances it heats up so fast you get good vaper with the shorter puff you take when the air screw is al the way out (assuming mouth-puffs in both cases)

IMO the kayfun is not built as a device for lung hits. I've been running the kayfin @ 0.7 on my brass mod and my RDAs @0.2-0.3 on my copper.
