My health has greatly improved. Although that improvement came most notably in the first year without smoking. I recently visited my doctor and she was pleased with the clarity of my lungs, saying it was almost like I'd never been a smoker. Yay!

Me too will be 8 years this year on switching also had xrays of lungs doctor said had the lungs of a non smoker :) Not bad after a life time of smoking (40+ yrs) up to 3 packs a day. I quit once for a few years or that 40+ would be higher but I figured out I needed nicotine so went back to smoking. Now I am happy have what I need but dropped the bad stuff

I'm not really bragging here since my 'achievement' required so little effort on my part. Maybe to serve as inspiration for a struggling newbie?

Anyway, I just realized today is my switching anniversary. January 15, 2010, is the date I accidentally switched from a pack and a half per day 35-year habit to vaping. Several times in years past I have let the date slip by without remembering it, LOL. (I'm 64yo, gimme a break).

Coincidentally, I'm also 64 and quit about 2 months after you did. Started vaping without intending to quit but after 10 days I no longer felt the need for a cigarette - March 20, 2010. Nothing but vape since.

Wow, congrats on your eight years! And congrats to all those who commented in this thread about their eight year mark coming up. My six year mark is coming up in April, thanks to ecigs and thanks to this forum and its helpful members. I celebrate every year I'm smoke free. It never gets old.

I know exactly what you mean ... though congratulations anyway.

My 8 year anniversary is coming up on March 6th. I was able to switch from a pack a day (often times more) to vaping after my first drag on a "Marlboro" filled carto screwed onto a KR808 battery. No stress ... no strain ... just (mostly) hassle-free. Except for The Learning Curve. Not a big one ... but it was there. And all of my early-day issues don't even exist anymore for the new vaper. The KR808's 2 - 4 hour battery life isn't a problem when the present day mod takes an 18650. Refilling a carto was kind of a drag and then along came a 2 - 4 milliliter top fill tank. Obviously vaping has gotten better and better since that Saturday morning eight years ago.

So to all newbs out there ... there is life after No More Smoking. Vaping ... More Flavor ... Less Death.

Great to here! and here is to many more!, we need more of these to prove we can do it. Eight years is no small task for a former smoker, I am getting up there in years but it really is no contest for me no more, I really don't think I would ever pick it up again and no wanting either.

Congrats, NCC!

I remember when I first came to ECF, the vapeversaries tended to be around 2 years. Now, they're 5, 6, 7, or even more years!

My 7th vapeversary will be Feb. 27th. I had smoked for 37 or 38 years and thought I would die a horrible death trying to catch my breath, with a cigarette still in my hand. I had lost all hope.

Then the miracle of e-cigarettes!!!!!!!

Oh, how I wish I could say that! I live in Argentina, one of the countries where vaping is banned. So short of supplies, or money I went back to smoking several times. My wish for the future is that government officials finally see the light and vaping not be banned anymore.

Congrats to all who quit tobacco and love vaping. Me too, just passed by 5th anniversary. What I enjoy most is having a clean smelling home, clean smelling mattress, clean smelling car, and clean lungs. No more bronchitis. What I hate most are the ridiculous rumors like "more carcinogenic than cigarettes" that keep getting spat out by the careless and clueless mainstream media.
