Just came from a local ejuice retailer in the NYC area and the owner tried selling a boutique brand ejuice for 25 dollars for 30 ml. I did sample it was great flavor. Just out of curiosity I decided to look it up on the web, all to find out the ejuice company has it for 13.99.

Is it me? Or was he trying to take for a ride? I know rent is high for brick and mortars stores and I don't mind paying a buck or 2 more , but that was ridiculous.

Then when you do DIY and find out the cost of the ingredients is probably less than $1.00, you realize why there are so many B&Ms that make their own juice. If I can make a decent recipe for $.70 for 30 ml by buying relatively small quantities (120 ml flavors, 1 liter PG/VG), imagine what it costs the big producers buying by the drum.

On the surface Yes, it seems like quite the Beating.
However, one can only imagine the Costs of doing Business in NYC or New York State in general. Safe to say the B&M is taking a beating before he ever even sells the first Item.
So Yes it is "high" compared to Web-based Entities operating out of their own Property in a low Rate Tax Locality.
But, Profit-Margin wise, it is on-Par or actually lower than his non-B&M Competitors.
Given that not fair to demonize or call the Dude a Crook by any means. Imagine he ain't getting Rich off of ya. Not even close.

Not judging as I buy all my Juices on-line for Price, Quality, Variety, User-Specificity, etc.
Just saying no reason at all to break out the rope and organize a Lynch-Mob on these People.

That sounds like a lot of work. [emoji1]

I can make a dozen 30ml batches from a list of dozens of recipes in less time than it takes you to go to the B&M, buy your stuff and come back, unless they are next door to you. :) Then maybe only a few. And I have only been doing it for myself months. The "work" is more the testing to find what you like, but once you have a recipe and you know what you have to do, it's not work at all. It takes me longer to build a coil than make a batch of juice.

If you've been to a shop that makes their own, you probably have seen them do it in a minute or two.

Was not trying to call anyone a crook, definitely not. I know the cost of doing business in NYC is expensive. Just trying to get fair value for what I am buying is the point. Meaning hope he did not take me for a ride.

Winchester, I agree with you about competitive pricing and having return customers. This was the only second B&M I went to. The other store I purchased ANML Looper 30 ml for $22 dollars.

Where did you see it online? As a wholesaler price?
I've been in vape shops when a company came in. I see time and time again, companies sell for $13 as wholesale then recommend $20-$25 for retail.

DIY is a good option. I vape occasional a flavor here and there, but I normally vape unflavored. 1000ml for the price of 2 30ml bottles at a B&M.

I generally DIY, it is easy and very, very cheap. I suspect the only place the B&M makes much money is in the juice. do I think 25.00 for 30 Mls is outrageous -yes I do. However, I also think the B&M needs to charge that much to make a little for their time and effort.

Money - DIY: $0.02-$0.05 (depending on flavorings) per ml
Time - 5 min per 30 ml or 10 min per 3*50 ml.

Of course you need initial investment of at least $50 and several hours time to get started.
EDIT: be aware that DIYing may transform to a hobby. Then you'll spend more and more time and money. I am safe here, it is not my hobby, it is like mowing for me - do not really like it, but have to do it anyway.

A year ago, I would have waded in to this thread and had a massive rant. Now, I can't be bothered to let it annoy me. People pay the money, it's a choice. Some shops sell outstanding liquids from reliable makers, and if you can afford it, then go for it.
If you just want to some liquid to put in your PV and are happy to vape homemade or cheap but nice juice, it's very value efficient.
Today I'm vaping 65 cent homemade in one tank and $1.20 pre-made juice in another. It works and I'd rather save the cash than go chasing the Nirvana of all liquids.

New here myself, been lurking for awhile, but your post caught my attention. As yesterday I saw a new little shop in my local mall and they blew my mind selling rebranded MBV juice at premium prices. $22 for a 30 of Menthol Ice and they even had the MBV's Gwar premium line for $25. People were actually buying it too. Your best bet is to look online as many juice co's sell high quality juice for about $30 for a 120 if youre not looking for the name brand Suicide Bunny, Cuttwood and whatnot. Also like a few people mentioned, DIY. It is pretty easy once you get a hold of recipes/ and or a good calculator app, you can pretty much mix up your favorite premium juice and even tweak it to your liking for next to nothing.

FWIW, for the "name brand" juices, I think B&M prices are pretty competitive to online when you are talking about the standard 15 ml or 30 ml bottles (i.e. ~$10-$13 for a 15 ml bottle, ~$20-24 for a 30 ml bottle). For my favorite juices, I have been ordering them online in 120 ml bottles and have been paying between $60-$70 which helps to lower the price to around 50-55 cents per ml. I just started doing DIY and my estimate is that my flavored juice will run me around 5 cents per ml.
