I am Brand Spanking New! In fact I am going to buy an njoy at the local Hess station tonight. I found DIY juice refill vids on youtube. The ecig I am going to buy (at least to see if it works for me) is a two piece model, carto and battery. What exactly is the deal with the ejuice. In the vids I saw they were putting say 10 drops in the condom, inserting the cart and then doing it again. Lets say for example I wanted to have Marlburu Red and cherry???? Would I just use 5 drops of MR and 5 Cherry two times? Or should they be mixed in a bottle??? And WHAT is PG and VG??? I currently smoke USA Gold Lights, but can not find out Nicotine levels.

Thank YOU

Welcome to ECF!

VG = vegetable-based glycol
PG = propylene glycol

Ejuice is perhaps the most important part to vaping. It's extremely important you find a juice flavor that you enjoy or you'll have a tough time giving up the analogs. Feel free to mix anything you like. My preference is a bit stange, but it works for me. First off, I make a mixture of 70% PG and 30%VG, that is my diluent. I buy the highest nic strength juice from backwoodsbrew.net (28 mg) and dilute it with about 30% with my PG/VG mix to bring it to about 18-19 mg. I don't like full strength juice, it's just too strong for my taste.

Almost Heaven
PG - Propylene Glycol
PG is probably the most common used ingredient in liquid most of the premade juices have around 80% PG. It is good for adding throat hit to a mix but is not a great vapour producer so normally another dilutant is added to the mix to increase vapour production. A small percentage of people can find they have a reaction to PG and have to find alternative liquids for mixing there juice.

VG - Vegetable Glycerine
VG is normally used to add vapour but has very little throat hit. It also adds a slight sweetness to a mix it normally makes up around 20% of the premixed liquids. Although most people refer to VG normally they are referring to AG (see below) VG is a very thick liquid and needs to be thinned for most uses in vaping unless used in small amounts but most of TW’s base liquids and dilutants are AG.

AG - Aqueous Glycerine
AG is basically VG that has already been thinned so it isn’t so thick normally using distilled or deionised water at around 15% water most of the base liquids and dilutants are AG but most people that refer to them say VG. It has the same characteristics as VG in that it’s good for vapour but not great for throat hit and has a slight sweetness to it.

PEG 400 - PolyEthylene Glycol
PEG400 is the black sheep of the bunch it’s normally used by experienced vapers and people that have problems with PG. It has both good throat hit and vapour but can struggle with attys that aren’t performing at 100% so I wouldn’t recommend it for a new mixer.

I would advise against starting with the NJOY. I did the same thing when I started (bought 2 so I could charge one battery and use the other). Within a week I had ordered a MUCH better (and cheaper) e-cig online and since I've gotten it, I haven't touched the NJOY. The NJOY works, but the hits are weak, the cartridges are unreliable (often don't work right out of the box), and after just a few days the batteries will start to deteriorate.

I would go with a standard eGo (not the eGo-T). You should be able to get a starter kit for around $45 that includes 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, 5 cartridges and a charger. Go ahead and order some juice (get a variety of small samples of flavors) and 10 cartomizers (those cartridges won't last a week). You can get all of this for roughly the same price as 2 NJOY kits and a bottle of NJOY refills. You can go a Google search and find lots of websites selling this stuff. I like altsmoke[dot]com because the site is easy to navigate and they ship their stuff super-fast (you'll have it in 3 days on the outside), but there are lots of places you can find this stuff.

PG is thin, works in everything. It lets through the most flavor, nicotine hit, nicotine irritation, and makes thin vapor

VG is thick, too thick to work in most cartos and tanks. It dulls everything PG lets through but makes thicker vapor

Most use blends. I use cartomizers and use high PG blends like 80PG/20VG or less VG. A bit of VG is nice - makes nice vapor, smooths over any irritation from the nic, makes for a fuller feeling drag. 70PG/30Vg is also a nice blend but I find it too thick for many slim ecig cartos. I also don't like to wait for juice to soak in and i like to get the longest life possible out of a carto. I also avoid juices that drop a lot of flavoring sediment in the stuffing (clogs everything, ruins drag, shortens carto life)

Thank You Everyone for the information, advice and greetings. I am open to any and all suggestions. I was just going with the Njoy to see if this even worked for me. If it works, I will probably upgrade immediately. A buddy of mine just hit 1 years analog free and only ecig. (think he said he had an Joye511???) Said it he wants an analog everyday but had stuck to it! I will give it a try an see what happens? Any other suggestions or comments are more than welcome!

My suggestion is that if the njoy you deiced to buy doesn't work for you, do not give up. It took me 3 PV's to find something that "worked" for me. Also do not base your opinion on eicgs based on juice you happen to get. I have juices now that if I stated with I would of gave up almost instantly based on the taste. I am glad that I found a juice that worked for me in my first order of juices. Welcome to ECF and the world of vaping!

I had a similar problem and ordered a blu to help me quit. Unfortunately, this was not the case and only helped to stave off the cravings while at work. I got another battery so i could constantly vape and ended up losing 2 out of 3 batteries. I would check around and do some research and purchase a cheaper but better PV before i made up my mind completely. I regretted getting my blu but it lead me to do more research. So in my humble opinion, if you feel like trying the Njoy only till you have more time to do more research and look around do it, but in the end i would look around to find one that fitted my needs.

Also, don't make the same mistake I did when first reading this forum of thinking "Oh, these people are WAYYY too into this stuff. They're just crazy, I don't need all this fancy equipment and juices. I'm sure the NJOY is just as good as anything." It isn't, but I will say that for me it did at least deliver the nicotine in a rush (this is why gum and patches don't work, IMO) and gave me that "smoking" feeling. Sure, it tasted like crap, didn't really satisfy, was overpriced, and half the cartomizers didn't work, but it was better than quitting cold turkey. I quit the day I bought my first NJOY, but within a week I had upgraded.

Let me put it this way: The NJOY made me realize I didn't need cigarettes anymore. My eGo made me realize I didn't want cigarettes anymore.

Welcome! The Njoy Npro 2-piece is what I started with also. Used it for a month and it got me off cigarettes. It works. However, the cartomizers (shorter brown cylinders) are pre-filled with an uninspiring flavor e-liquid. You need to run those dry before you can refill them with an aftermarket (better) juice. FIlling them is a pain also - as is the battery life. They are also more expensive than the alternatives. Your friend has a Joye 510 I believe. Its a step up from the Njoy with the 510 threading options but battery life is still limited. If a slim type like this is what you prefer, it is a better option than the Njoy. A great starter I usually recommend is the Riva 510. Not as slim as an Njoy or Joye but has 4 times the battery life and can use any 510 atomizer or cartomizer that the Joye 510 can use. Its extremely versatile. The Riva can be found at a place called Liberty Flights. Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510
The Riva 510 Lite bundle gives you TWO batteries, a charger, a bunch of cartridges and two atomizers. All for $30 when you click the 20% off icon at the top of the page. You will also want to add a pack of standard, 2.7 ohm Boge Cartomizers in addition to e-liquid. This will get you going with a well-proven, versatile and cost-effective starter package. I must add that this is by no means the only option out there... Just one that many people here use and recommend plus I use one every day myself.

I imagine your friend was talking about a Joye 510. That was what I started with. There are various differences between manufacturers and models.

I would highly suggest reading all 6 parts of Welcome to the Wonderful World of Vaping in the Library section. It is a fun read and, while a little dated, is packed with information. Armed with info, you can get better hardware to fit you. Armed with good hardware, you can find a juice that will make you never want another burning cigarette. Armed with good hardware and juice, sticking to it is easy.

Welcome to ECF.

Welcome ! Just a IMHO on the subject of NJoy and the new vapor (YOU !) Save yourself alot of money and opt for the RIVA 510 at liberty-flights. Yea, so and so had an NJoy and blah blah :) But the reality is that the NJoy really sucks compared to the RIVA. You will only get little satisfaction from the small battery and vapor. If i had found this forum before i found the ecig, would have gone straight to the fatt batts and saved HUNDREDS !! Just check out the RIVA reviews and check the NJoy review and see which is the clear winner. My motto is always be up front about being honest and genuine, so i am not a jerky person, just a "Real" one. Now, Go do the right thing :)
