Let it sit for a day or so (with the cap off) after mixing since the harshness at 8mg is likely the alcohol in your flavoring.

Also being from the UK are you using Totally Wicked flavors by chance?
That's probably it, I haven't had the patience to wait a few days

I'm using capella at the moment, likely to change in the future though.

adjust your pg to vg ratios to the higher vg side for instance 65vg/35pg you can also try letting it steep a week. The NIC your using may also be a harsher or peppery type. For a less harsh NIC you can try http://www.vaperstek.org/ nic.
The harshest mixes have been 70vg 40pg. All good suggestions as to what the problem is so thank you. I'll work through 'em and hopefully one of you have worked it out for me.

I have learned the hard way buy higher grade of nicotine I started purchasing from vapors tek and it's a world of difference.

Psssst.............

Small batches
No Nic
Test results - Then adjust

Your Harsh Mixes could just be Harsh mixes. I have made a few that were like vaping desert air and some that produced Baby Powder Smell and taste.
Once the recipes work, nick blending is easy and it should have minimal effect of the final product.

* I only use Wizard Labs Nic - Never any off taste/color/odor :)

If you suspect the VG or PG vape them alone and see if they are what is causing it. If not then it may be the NIC.

Very true I've had a few tobacco flavorings that were pretty harsh but it's always good to test your vg/pg/nic without flavoring to rule them out.

Curious after reading the posts in the thread. For a harsh or peppery nic, is there anything that will tone it down? Steeping, leaving the cap off, adding something?

For the most part a harsh NIC is a harsh nic but steeping and adjusting VG to PG or even NIC concentration may help but usually does not completely eliminate it.
