I can't thank Cheechako enough for the help in rebuilding my coils! I have every one I have on hand rebuilt with new coils and cotton! I think I have enough wire and cotton on hand to last me the rest of my life! Only thing that can go wrong now is O-rings! I even built 4mm vertical coils for my Ego one one CL coils! Easy Peasy!

Cheech is truly one of the best. There are a lot of great people here at ECF and especially on this thread - terrific folks who will help you with anything you need.

That's how I have found it, even in the short time I have been a member. Helpful and friendly, even though I have just a GS-Tank and not a GS Air Tank! I like that it is small and light and at 22mm dia. it fits my iStick 40W TC perfectly, yet still holds 3ml of juice! With a kanthal coil and an iStick mini it would be the perfect stealth vape, since it wouldn't even show above a shirt pocket!

I just had my day made! Good to see a new rebuilder of the Air coils!
There is a link in my blog for replacement o-rings and grommets.
Now for the grilling @Leopards, what ohm did you coil at? Kanthal gauge? What's your ratio of PG/VG? How many wraps of liner material did you use?
Not trying to be too nosy, but compiling info for future assistance with folks wanting to recoil. :)

0.14 ohms nickel 30Ga. I think two wraps! Had a heck of a time getting it to stay in place just right, ended up tapping the outer shell down and rubbing off the tiny bit that got cut off by the bottom edge when I did that! tried a vertical coil in one, it works just as well as the horizontal ones! the vertical one is a 0.41 ohms in 0.40 mm Ti wire, Clouds with max VG, but a bit gurgly as I didn't have the proper material for the wrap around the inner casing and used the thin outer layer of organic vaping cotton for the wrap instead!

You might want to consider a blog on recoiling the Air coils to TC. Lots of folks interested in that aspect of recoiling!
Share your success with others. There have been a ton of questions regarding vertical coils too.

Cheechako, one question. how do you fire and squash a kanthal coil to get out the hot spots, if you don't have an RDA to put it in? Can you use the base of the GS and coil on your mod?
Yes you can, but I don't fire and squash anymore. After wrapping the coil on the needle, I create tension by tightening the coil and pushing it together.
Haven't had the issue with hot spots since I starting doing it this way.

I have a pair of tweezers that will fit in the base through the two openings that I used to use to squash the coil once upon a time.
And, yes I did use my mod to heat up the kanthal in the Air base. Hard to imagine creating the coil in one base and transferring it
to another.
I know you are supposed to create tensioned coils with either precise spacing or all touching without hotspots, and I will never dispute
the technique works, but I'm a lazy coiler and have found no difference between what I do now and when I used to agonize over
creating perfect coils.
When I recoil the Airs, I do 30 to 40 at a time to get it out of the way. And this is the easiest and most efficient way to do it for me.

I applaud your vertical coils! I did several when I was first trying to figure out the best way to redo the GS Air coils. They worked, but it was too much trouble
to me for the performance. Took twice as long as a horizontal coil without that much benefit it seemed to me.

I know there are a lot of folks that would love to see pictures and/or video of how you do it as well as the TC coils!

This is all my opinion and how I do it, what works for other folks is great. You are way ahead of me in your recoiling! I haven't tried recoiling any TC and probably
won't for the foreseeable future, But I sure love hearing about it!

I have one of the new GS tanks that I'm ready to pitch in the trash! Airflow is wide open but it's still like trying to suck a McDonald's milkshake through a freaking straw! :grr: Plus..this morning I kept getting mouthfuls of juice just trying to vape with it. YUCK!
Did you try UC'ing it Lynn? Sounds like something's stuck in there.
If not, try a hammer??:lol:
