Thanks, Troll. Whew! Guess I did it. I'm going to let it sit for a bit. Aimed for 1.5, got 1.35. It seemed to fire ok when I pulsed it a couple of times with one of my vv3s. I need to dig up a different pair of scissors. If I messed anything up, it was the wicking or the liner.:)

YAY for you Kivrin!
Being the 1st of the month, and easy to remember, I changed two GSAir coils today -- I believe I now have six or seven waiting to be rebuilt. Hope I do as well as you!

Cheers for you!!!!
The scissors I use in the video are the best bet for trimming the wicks and liner.
I think I got them in the women's beauty section of Wally-World...or maybe got them at Sally's when I bought the
Rayon. The fine point and sharp blade make short work of wicking. Regular sized scissors are a pain for fine work
like this.
continue to keep us posted on your rebuild!

I just tried my hair cutting scissors and they don't like the rayon, but I think my herb scissors are gonna be perfect.:)

Well, hellooo there, flavor! I think I'll start in on the rest. Maybe even the fresh ones :thumb:

Do you notice a big improvement in flavor, Kivrin?

Well, I filled it with my favorite juice to give it a proper testing. I don't remember it tasting this good, but, it's also been a couple of weeks.

I tell you what. My other M is empty. I'll put a fresh coil in, fill it up and do a side by side testing using my 2 vv3s.

Herb scissors will create some interesting wicks for sure... :D

OOOOooooh! Those look great for herbs.:w00t:

I have these. I usually only use the holes for de-stemming. It's faster and easier to chop them with my chef's knife, but those look promising.

Kivrin -- I appreciate that -- but don't go messing up a coil if you don't want to! Heaven knows it will be a while before I get to coiling! So NO RUSH!
Just about everyone has said the taste is even better -- I think that will be my main reason for trying to rebuild -- I got several packs of coils in "across the hall" deals recently, and they last such a long time, improved flavor will have to be my reason!

Well it will be a while yet before my M arrives.

You have to like it when a poor underpaid postal worker puts your package on the wrong truck... :glare:

Wow, finally got caught up. Time for a nap now. Did I win anything this morning, while sleeping. Maybe a trophy or 2? Who's the new Guy??

Just realize that the vv3s will only power the GS Air to 11W, which is barely touching it's potential...

Alrighty! BLIND taste test!

Testing Conditions: 2 GS Air M tanks (purchased from SV)
2 identical drip tips. For this test, I am using the GS Air (regular) tips.
2 identical Innokin vv3. Both turned off and on to reset puff count. Both at full charge. Both set at 9.5 watts.
Both tanks were primed and warmed up on my iStick before switching over.
One GS Air coil (purchased from SV), one rebuilt by me, myself, and I.

I removed my thread covers (because they're different). Switched them around. Put them in the other room. Poured a glass of iced tea. I will now go retrieve them.

Not gonna work. I can tell. I had the rebuilt in my left hand. The draw is a lot looser with the single coil. Effortless. And the flavor pops. The one in my right takes more effort to draw and the flavor feels like it goes through a filter before I taste it, if that makes any sense.

But, gonna confirm...1.3, left: 1.5, right.

So, yeah, the flavor is better Nanny:thumbs:

Myth confirmed! Now you see why I'm fanatical on rebuilts. It's gets easier with every one you redo! :)

That's about as far as I go anyway, alden. But I'd taken the rebuild up to 11 istick 20 watts before I started my experiment. I usually have it set around 10.:)

The taste of the blister pack coil is also quite excellent. It holds up very well.

And it's fine to mess up a coil now! It's a light flavor. I'll enjoy the tank and then refill with something compatible and stronger.:D

It'll give me something to vape while I try to deal with a little Kanthal mishap! I almost reached for an analog. I know I did when in a similar situation with my lawn trimmer spool.

THANK YOU for the very impartial and scientific coil comparison, Kivrin! Quite inspiring!
I will re-watch Cheech's academy award winning short, background music provided by IMRs, and commence rebuilding ... soon.
I love this place -- and all of you. Everyone is just so helpful and encouraging.:wub:
