I've tried 30, 29 and 28 g kanthal for my Kanger-like rebuilds.

I don't like the 30--too thin. The 28 g, I tried 10/9 and 9/8 wraps on 2mm ID (1.6-1.5Ω). It's OK.

I think I like the 29 g the best. I usually go for 9/8 wraps, 1.8Ω or so.

By Kanger, are you referring to the Pro tank line?
Have your tried rebuilding the Air coils yet?
I'm hoping for feedback on anyone else's experiences.
I hit the magic number with the blue screwdriver of 1.5 ohms and 29 gauge kanthal and 9/8 wraps.

I picked up my GS Air today for the first time in 2 weeks. (Kayfun freak )
Funny how your vape style changes over time.. even two weeks!
I backed the air-screw out from 1/2 air to full air (flush with outside) and bumped up watts +1.
Yummy! This tank does impart a sweet flavor for me.
And it's size is more conducive to pocket use over my Kayfun. (spring riding mower time today ya!)
Looking forward to the GS Air-MS - looks shorter, fatter, large capacity, and better airflow control.
Anyone got those specs yet? But looks like what's not to like!

Exactly 1 month since the first whisper I saw: (way back pg. 28 ha)
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/clearomizers/642824-eleaf-gs-air-fan-27.html#post15222091

And still no details/can't add to cart at the only place showing these:
gs-air-ms-atomizer
Says pre-order in the url.. but no way to actually pre-order!

Maybe they are waiting for the anticipation to build to a fever - ha!
(or it's 'vapor-ware' <- get it? :p )

eta: btw - what was the big '2 item secret reveal' mentioned last week... unveiled yet?

Well this is odd - the same coil is on a new iStick 20w and is reading 1.5 ohms and seems like has more of a burnt taste than when I have it on my older iStick 20w, which reads it at 1.6 ohms. Battery dying on the older one maybe? They are both reading about the same battery level right now.
And - go!

Well a freshly charged 20 with a 1.5 even at minimum should be reading 6 watts and truly producing closer to 8 could be a little hot for some juices, at least I know it is for some of mine.:vapor:

Which is why I stopped boiling my cartos after my first few attempts. They were never the same afterwards.

I saved my cartos when I first started vaping and boiled a bunch of them. Tried one and gave the rest to my daughter. Lol. There is nothing better than a fresh carto or coil!

I've been saving my GS Air coils but your post reminded me why I shouldn't bother to even try reusing them.

Save 'em! Maybe someday you'll rebuild them like Cheechako. Way cheaper in materials than buying new stock coils.

The darn things are so cheap its not worth messing with them........:toast:

I have yet to replace my first coil....of course I'm not using the atomizer continually, but I've used it a lot, still great flavor....can't wait until the new versions arrive on the market...........:pop:

By Kanger, are you referring to the Pro Tank line?

Yeah--I'm referring mainly to the type of BCC or BDC coil that Kanger invented, as opposed to true RBAs. Kanger, Aspire, GS Air etc. Same general idea.

Have your tried rebuilding the Air coils yet?

Nope. But I have two coils ready to go. Speaking of which, I tried to Google that non-woven gauze, but I'm not sure which is the right kind. Would you mind looking at my search results and see if you can identify the correct one?

That's my unicorn build too--around 2mm I.D., 29 g kanthal, Koh Gen Do or rayon wick. :)

If you want to learn more, see this thread:

It's veeeeeeeeeeeeery long, but also very educational. :D

I tried reusing the liner material and found the thinner stuff I substituted allowed better wicking instead.
I finaly found the container for the stuff I found, it's from McKesson and only describes it as "non-woven gauze".
I don't even bother with stock now and rebuild out of the box.
I wish I could collect all the coils being tossed!
Now I'm going to have to go through my drill bits to vary the coils...how many wraps do you use and what
gauge kanthal?
I suppose I could have used my "Radio voice" on the video from when I was a DJ at a FM station years ago,
"Next on radio Cheechako, a blast from the present, the award winnning GS Air!"

Do it! C'mon, Radio Voice! :D

Abstolutely looking forward to the newer size(s) on the Airs. I love my little itty bitty one, but would like just a little less in the area of constant refills. I admit it. I'm truly a lazy vaper.

This is sooooooooo me. Just use 'em and toss 'em. And I'm also on coil #1 in both of mine. Like you, I switch around all day long, but have given these initial coils a goodly spin. They are not losing flavor or vapor in the slightest.

Javamon, have I thanked you lately?

Okay so just filled up my tank before leaving for work with tropical mix had a few tokes and started gurgling, took the head off and blew through the Base gurgling stopped
What's going on!! I know i didn't drip any liquid on the coil so.. Any suggestions?

You probably overfilled it a bit, or some of the juice got into the center air tube. It happens. You have to be very careful when refilling. Blowing the excess liquid out helps, but you can also try to take a few puffs without activating the battery to force eliquid into the atomizing chamber. You can also just vape through an occasional gurgle--it will go away. Unless your atomizer is flooded--if so, you'll have to disassemble the tank and make sure that everything is tight and snug inside, that the heating coil is screwed all the way into its base, all the o-rings are in place and so on. And make sure that you never over tighten your tank onto the battery--that alone may cause all kinds of problems.

Good luck.

~ Hey All: I'm Fairly New to Eleaf products and the GS Air! About 3 1/2 weeks I've been playing with em. Came across this forum trying to get through it a Lot of Posts! I like the GS Air a lot, I like it more then all the Mini Pro Tanks I have! I believe I will replace all the Mini Pro Tanks with these. I like to have a mod ready with many different flavors so I can just reach over and indulge! The GS can be a bit airy but once you find that Sweet Spot with the screw it sure makes a difference! I'm becoming a Big Fan of the Melo as well! About the same time frame with use and much more accurate with air flow! Both deliver great taste!

~ I noticed some folks have a collar between their iStick and the GS what is this? I'm not talking about the eGo Skirt it's some little collar?

~ Thanks Skullman {:{}

~ OK Here You Go, I found a couple members who posted photos here's two examples

Hi Skullman and welcome to the thread.

What you see in those pictures is this gizmo:

Tank Airflow Controller

My dear friend Katdarling and myself (and others) use those AFC adapters to protect the cheap and weak threads on our iSticks 20 from getting stripped bare. Others use Eleaf's bending adapter.

~ Hey redddog: The Melo meets all those requirements! I've bee real happy with mine. I've got two set up for all day vaping and have been really pleased with them. At this point I'm liking the Melo more then my Atlantis & Nautilus. Though I did order more Aspire through the COOP so I can give em a real good try out to compare!?

Skully {:{}

If there was a GS air that was 22mm and held 3.5 ml+, I'd be all over that.

Surprised they didn't come out with that option. Love the aspire BVC and when they come out with that in cotton, my search would be over. I was hoping to go eleaf but I dunno. Its a race between how quickly aspire can get a cotton BVC and how quickly eleaf can get a bigger capacity GS air for me.

c'mon guys! Who wants to be a winner?!

~ Thanks for the Welcome Katya! OK got ya! I did not know the 20watt had 510 issues? Is it just with the 20watt? I've got a 50watt and a Mini that I use daily. I hate to admit it but have dropped both a number of times!?? Not used to these small light mods! I remember using a device like that on the Vamo 3's they had 510 threading problems. Eventually just got rid of the 3's.

~ As far as function how do you like these Air Controllers? Other then saving your threads Do they Function Well?

~ The Bending Adapter looks Pretty Cool but I just don't see a need for it for me! I would like one of those Leather Cases with Lanyard for the 50watt why one is not available I don't understand!

~ I would like to get a 30watt they do have the case for it. I do have a Pink 50watt full kit brand new in box I wouldn't mind swapping out. Got it for a girlfriend of mine down in Cali but she's just not ready to give up the sticks!??

~ Hey Cheeako: Do you have photos to share of your rebuilding? Sure would like to tackle see if its something I can accomplish!??

Thanks Skully {:{}

1/4 of the rayon rope out of the box and stretched out until it "squeaks" as it's pulled through, hope that makes sense.
The replacement material I stumbled on at work, its like a cloth that is very absorbant, could not get the coils to stop
flooding until I put this material in.
I use one of the famous "Blue Screwdrivers" that came with one of my RTA's to wrap my coils for it as it fits in the
slot of these heads very nicely. I have a Russian 91, Fogger V3 and a RDA and this tank beats them all!
I was a fan with the stock coils and rebuilding them just ups the awesomeness of these bad boys.
