Instantly suggesting they have to have the ability to recoil, rewick and understand ohms and watts in order to enjoy any sort of "real" vaping!Same here, Cheech! Everyone seems to be recommending subtanks to newbies these days and you can't get a word in edgewise. They don't even bother to find out how the person vapes, if they are MTL or lung hitters. They just assume everyone should have a subtank. And they just don't work well for a lot of us.
Looking forward to hearing the performance with NET in the long haul.Well as the proud owner of two Mini's, I may join you there.. lets see what the week brings![]()
I vape NET liquids pretty much exclusively. The older 1.5 ohm coils seem to last in the vicinity of about 2 to 3 weeks or so... keep in mind that I use a Subtank Nano equally or more often as my daily driver... when I get the urge to subohm... with full time use, I'd suppose that's equal to about 4 to 5 weeks of life. The MS is my at-work tank. The 1.2 ohm coils are still going strong a couple of weeks in. I did an extreme and excessively unrealistic stress test on one and effectively killed it in 48 hours... I'd suppose all of that translates to a real world life span of 3 weeks or so... makes sense since silica outlasts cotton. With non NET juices that aren't too dark or sweet, you can probably add 50% to these estimates, giving the new coils a life expectancy of about a month... NET liquids gunk coils very rapidly, but the GS Air coils tend to last a bit longer since they have a smaller wire gage and pump out less heat, cooking less NET crud onto the coil. NET liquids certainly taste a bit more potent on a subohm coil (for better or worse, depending on your subjective taste), but really abuse those powerful coils.Looking forward to hearing the performance with NET in the long haul.
Hey thanks for the coil comparison cloudmann! How would you rate the flavor on an ms cotton coil compared to the silica wick coil, both on a new coil and after say a week? I'm sensitive to any changes like a slightly burnt taste and change out my nautilus mini cotton coils every 2-3 days but just got my GS air and GS ms yesterday so still testingI vape NET liquids pretty much exclusively. Glad it's going well for you, David. In answer to your multitude of questions....Question: What Watts or Volts, what nic strength, and PG/VG ratios are you guys vaping at typically on your GS Air, GS MS, or GS M? Favorite eliquids? I am looking to try liquids other than NETs, and have tried maybe 30 or so, but so far I only found one I liked,m watermelon, lol.. and that lasted half a day and now it is irritating to me. As I mentioned yesterday, I am testing with a natural-tobacco-extract, 65/35 PG/VG, 18 mg mix of Pure Virginia and Sun Cured Turkish, pretty smooth. I also want to try these on a more flavorful non-NET liquid that I like, if i can find one![]()
+ 1 on this!! Also Mango Lassi at Ahlusion is very good as well. Strong mango taste.GranFumador, you should try Ahlusion's Lychee Coconut Smoothie if you haven't already. I taste more Lychee than Coconut in it. I think the coconut just smooths it out. A 10ml. bottle is $9.00, but they are doing 35% off right now. Just a suggestion...
Thanks for the suggestion, Jingles. I can do without the coconut. It you find a pure lychee that really tastes like the fresh lychee fruit, please let me know. I ate loads of them in Madagascar, shared a few with the sifakas inthe Berenty Reserve, and like the flavor a lot.GranFumador, you should try Ahlusion's Lychee Coconut Smoothie if you haven't already. No worries. In my experience (and keep in mind that taste is subjective), the 1.2 ohm cotton coils deliver more flavor and vapor, whether from a brand new coil or all the way up to the end of its life. The cotton coils seem to gunk up a bit quicker, but I've been able to run them hotter at 20 watts, versus 17-18 watts for the 1.5 ohm coils. I don't notice any burnt taste with the cotton coils for a couple of weeks, but of you're sensitive to it, your mileage will certainly vary. The cotton coils need about a day or so to break in, in my experience. They produce great flavor on day one, but improve after about 5ml of juice has run through them.Hey thanks for the coil comparison cloudmann! Great feedback, I will try upping the power a bit more, I've hit 9W on the GS MS with cotton wicked coil, and its a little warmer vape than I am used to, but will try it with the air flow open more and see how it is. I haven't tried the cotton wick coil on the GS Air yet, I want to see how it does on that one too. The gurgling i get is on my Nautilus Mini, I will try that at higher power with more air as well. You are right that taste is subjective, and i will find the settings that work good for me, but its still good to know what others have done so I can at least try it out, so thanks again! No worries. Your issues with burning taste might be the low-ish wattage you use. The gurgling and sizzling you hear is excess juice in the center of the coil. It's wicking juice faster than it's burning it. Try 10-12 watts. The cotton coils have bigger juice channels (slightly) and wick faster... 8 watts might not cut it. As that excess juice sits there in the coil, there's more potntial for it to dry a bit and burn to a slight crust... especially with NET juices. You might actually need that extra wattage to extend your coil life, however counterintuitive that seems.
Thanks Lynn, fellow North Carolinian! I have seen some good reviews of NT liquids, I will give them a try11-12W depending on the liquids, 3 or 6 mg Nic, and mostly 50/50 liquids. I vape mostly Nicoticket or Ahlusion liquids although I'm starting to get away from Nicoticket somewhat because of the whole testing of liquids. Most of the NT liquids that I like are high in the stuff I don't want. I mostly like fruit flavored liquids...NET's are not very high on my likes.
That's great coil life Chemtx, it will be interesting to see what I get vaping NETs, the coil killers haha. Thanks for the feedback, and when you do try the cotton coils, let us know how you like themI have four venders I use and normally 50/50 juices. I run my 1.5 coils around 11.5w and get about 3 to 4 weeks on the lighter juices like Ahlusion and less on darker stuff like Nicoticket. I recently bought some max vg options and I'm dropping down to 3 mg nic to try out and I bet that will lower the life on coils. Thicker juice and all. I've not used my new cotton coils yet. Things have been busy!
I am extremely wishing I had more istick30s right now, jealous of all those isticks you have! I have only one, but another should get here in the mail Monday or Tuesday, I wanted to order two more, one a full kit, but Sweet-Vapes was out of the full kits at a great price, 29.95. I was just thinking that I wanted to try an M tank, as i figured with the longer tube it just might give me that not so warm vape I get compared to the MS (though I do like it for pocketability), and you vape at the Power level I am used to vaping at. I have tried unsuccessfully to move away from tobacco flavors (actually, real tobacco in the NETs), but will keep looking to find some I like enough to keep vaping them. I agree with finding what you like best, and still working on that, thanks for your suggestions!Glad it's going well for you, David. In answer to your multitude of questions....
I'm pretty simple: 4 istick 30s, two with GS Airs, and two with GS Air M. I have a couple of Ms tanks, but don't like them nearly so much, so they are in reserve. I've replaced all the drip tips with stainless tips that are solid metal, and longer by a bit.
That gives a cooler vape. I usually vape at 7.5. to 8.5 watts, and most of my juices are clear or slightly tinted, 50/50 pg/vg, and 8 to 12 mg. nicotene. I sample a little of everything, but prefer mints, wintergreen, tropical fruit flavors. Also wild and black cherry and blackberry. Always hunting for a good, authentic tasting lychee and also mango. I started vaping with tobacco flavors, but they reminded me too much of cigarettes, so I moved on after a few months. AFC on the M is usually wide open, and on the Air it's about 7/8ths open. I am a fairly serious baseball fan and political blogger, hybridize flowers and argue etymology (American vs. British English). Vaping with the Airs goes well with all of that. Your tastes may differ. Find what you like best and enjoy it, regardless of what else may be in fashion.
While Sweet-Vapes is my preferred vendor, hardware is commodity, so if service reputation is ok, I sometimes buy elsewhere. For the istick 30, try Mount Baker Vapor. Net of their usual ten percent off coupons (shoot me a pm if you need one), the full kit thirty is just a bit over $30. They just stock silver and black. Or do what I haven't done yet, because I have my four 30s, and pick up a tc 40. They are around for just a few bucks more than the 30 I believe. Or... join me in awaiting shipment and reviews for the Heatvape Defender 50, with a replaceable battery. That will cost more than the 30, but... Tibs says the lower wattage Defenders are good, and she's expert on most things not involving rhubarb.I am extremely wishing I had more istick30s right now, jealous of all those isticks you have! I believe you are the record holder for coil longevity!David, you might find that your taste changes drastically after you've been vaping awhile. When I first started a couple of years ago, I only vaped tobaccos. But now I can't stand most tobacco flavors and much prefer fruit, nut, or dessert flavors. My everyday vapes are Hazelnut and Vanilla Butternut that I DIY. I'm down to 3 mg and mix mine at 65%PG/35%VG. Those flavors are really light so my coils last a good while - usually at least 2 weeks, but I've had one that lasted 5 weeks.
