I've been drinking Death Wish for some time now... straight up black and brewed extra strong...
World's Strongest Coffee
Sounds like it's right up my alley.
I do find, though, that there is a difference between being undrinkably bitter and strong.

I thought it was just me imagining that the istick 20w hits a lot harder than the 30. Good to know that it wasn't all in my head. :thumb:

Lost, your istick doesn't hit "harder." It just fires a whole volt higher than your display indicates... Long story--istick 20 doesn't step down and is miscalibrated. IOW, when your display shows 3v, you're actually getting 4.2v (on a freshly charged battery)... Don't ask... Adjust your voltage accordingly. Just add 1 volt to what you see on your screen to get the actual voltage.

Thank you Katya! Wondered just how much higher it was firing...

Hi Birdie! :)
That doesn't explain why, then, I get such a stronger TH from the same juice, on my iS20w at 6 watts, than I do on my iS30w at 10 watts. The hit is much smoother on the 30w. Again, same exact juice.

Run both mods in voltage mode and see if you notice a difference.

Set your iStick 20 to 3 volts and your iStick 30 to 4.2 volts, for example.

Will do. Results to be posted after dinner. :D

Let me explain.

Your 6 watts on your iStick 20 is not 6 watts.

Wattage = voltage squared divided by resistance.

If your battery's lowest voltage output is 4.2v, and you are using a 1.5Ω coil, you're vaping at 11.76 watts--no matter what your iS20 indicates.

Okay. Well I did your little experiment and the results remain the same. The 30w is a much smoother hit.

It works out the same with wattage... look at the voltage level when in wattage regulated mode. You'll need to dial down wattage in an amount that lowers voltage roughly one volt... that's kind of a rough guideline, though... insert all that fancy shmancy electronics jargon that I'll spare you right here...

There's hotter (as in more power, watts) and than there is smoother... Look up the rattlesnake effect. :)

It's been discussed here forever. This post explains it well.

"The reason the Istick seems to hit harder than other regulated mods is because the Istick measures its output using Aavg (mean) instead of the more common Vrms."

There's more...

Ordered a GS Air M and pack of coils Friday with priority shipping and it's lost. Gotta love the USPS. I opened an investigation. Meanwhile I ordered them again from another vendor last night. I'm not very patient.

One thing I'm confused about is the dual thing. Are they or are they not? Where they then they weren't. 1.5 are not, 1.2 are?

The 1.5 ohm heads are dual horizontal coil, silica wick. The 1.2 ohm heads are single vertical coil with organic cotton wicks.

The package might not be lost. Just because the USPS can't locate it, doesn't mean it's gone. The "employees" haven't been scanning the package as it transits, most likely... It'll probably show up on your doorstep, magically teleported from its last reported location. Gotta love USPS.

Incidentally, the USPS will tell you that the three day "guaranteed" delivery time for priority mail is only an estimate, is not guaranteed in actuality, and that actual delivery times may be anywhere from 1 to 31 days... yes, 31 days. Any claims have to wait until 30 days after the ESTIMATED delivery date they provided, for this very reason. One month shipping on two day priority... with no accountability on their part. Lovely company, that one.

Thanks for clearing that up! I bought the 1.5 but will be trying the 1.2 as well. All I really need is single coil but I thought at this price I would give this a go and see how I like it. I'll be running it on an istick30w.

The tracking on the package went from 'label created' to delivered at the shipping zip code. We think that was a mistake and should have been marked received but it just had to ship across town and has been 4 days (ordered Friday night/shipped Saturday). But yes, it could still show up. I'm a truck driver that delivers to post offices all over town and I know all too well about the PO. I've probably seen some of your packages lying around (joking).

Actually, the 1.2 ohm single coils perform substantially better. Give 'em a shot.
