I use high VG level juice, 100% vg with only the flavors to thin it and it seems to wick fine on this clearo.
But if I go above 8 or so watts the VG can't seem to keep up and I get a burned taste pretty quick.
Thinking about thinning my juice with distilled water a bit...
Some say they are better, some just say a bit different.....perhaps a bit cleaner with more flavor notes shining through. As they have pretty big slots on each side of the casing they do wick rather well. Your liquid should wick well and most likely better than the original Aspire BVC's.
I'm sure you have read that recent orders of BVC's (for either type) are now coming in with larger wicking holes. I'm trying one now with a Nauti, but haven't had the pleasure with a non-nauti BVC device.
To me the difference between non-nauti BVC coils and nauti BVC coils has only been the air flow changing capabilities of the actual topper itself. I've become accustomed to this feature and do enjoy it a lot, though I rarely change the setting. I have enjoyed the GS Air with it's factory pre-set air level. I do like knowing I can change it if I desire, just using a tiny screwdriver.

I actually think the nautilus bvc coils are way more muted flavor than the non nautilus coils. Way more muted
Are they different from the Aspire BDC coils, besides the coils being vertical?
Huh? First time I've heard that. But, I don't get around much.
The 2 are built identical -- with the changes being in the size of the container and which toppers they fit in. Is it possible that you are using BDC coils?
I abstolutely believe in mls per coil! I do keep track (no, kids, no spreadsheet on this!). I don't vape every tank every day. I'd certainly never remember what was filled when!
So I keep track of the fills and that gives me an IDEA of how long the coils are wearing it well. I'd say 30ml on one coil is the extreme for me, but I like them fresh fresh fresh.
Anyone else keep track or have input on this?
I do keep track too. Especially with new devices. Old habit--I used to have spreadsheets when we were testing cartomizers. Don't ask.
A good Boge carto can handle 6-9 ml, twice as much when tanked. I love clean coils--I begin to notice changes in flavor after a few refills. That's why I love Kanger coils--I can clean, dry burn, torch or replace the wicks whenever I feel like it--which is often. With a little maintenance, a Kanger coil can last for weeks. And it can be rebuilt easily, which greatly improves its performance and, of course, its longevity.
Birdie! Just the person I need. When you give your vape equipment your famous vodka baths, how long do you usually let them soak? I am trying to get a nasty taste off of an I30 I bought a week ago or so. Smells like a mechanic's shop and it's making the juice taste like that smell. BLECH!
I don't give them vodka baths anymore. I wet burn them. If you want to bathe them, a few hours should suffice. You only need to soak the coil head--not the tank. And the smell of vodka should dissipate immediately.
I 30? Those long silica wick? Those coils can be dry burned and the wicks can be rinsed and torched. No need to soak those.
The problem is not with the coil or the wicks. It's the metal around the the tank. It has like an industrial, oily smell to it. I'm already soaking all of it, just to be safe. I'm thinking some kind of residue from the manufacturer.
If it's tank grease, try hot water and a mild dishwashing liquid (Dawn, Palmolive). Or a solution of baking soda and water (on a soft toothbrush). But vodka should work too. Just rinse it afterwards and don't overdo it.

A few hours should do it. Overnight, perhaps. Longer than that is not going to make any difference.

order arrived today form Sweet-Vapes.. these are different than the tanks I received from them previously..
the tank itself looks the same but the installed coil head doesn't have the knurled top- looks identical to the eGrip head, sans silicone top ring and branding, and the AFC screw isn't as responsive as the other ones I have. perhaps they don't employ a FIFO inventory system?
re: cleaning- I dropped some 50/50 no-flavor, no-nic into the center to get directly onto the coil and did a few pulses, blowing into it, until the ohms reading was 1.6 (some were reading 2.2!) and the juice smell was gone-- going to boil them one more time, blow them out and dry for a few days and give one a try.

might be from the first shipment? it's not an issue by any means, just an observation!

I don't know how those wicks withstand burning like that when they practically fall apart after I just rinsed them under water.

I don't think it even needs to soak. If you fill the tank with vodka and shake it for a while, you're going to get most of the nastiness off in a matter of seconds/minutes.
