Jimmy Durante, in poi-son... was a HUGE star in the 20's through the 40's, in Vaudeville, film, Broadway and radio. His career just made a natural progression to TV in 1950. On radio, he always opened the The Jimmy Durante Show with this:
"Good night, Mrs. Calabash, wherever you are."
