If you have other tanks, give that a try.

I know that some coils can have a short that will cause issues and trigger that warning.

And even if the tank might not seen that hot, it might transfer the heat downwards via the connector and cause the sensor to trigger.

I'm no fan of the nautilus and I can't remember if this was the issue (but I do remember the device too hot message on my iStick 30). The problem was the tank as described here.
