Eleaf TC60W / Melo 2 very harsh throat hit if not used for extended periods of time?

Hi there,

I have been using my TC60W with the Melo 2 tank for about a year now, but ever since a month or so I have noticed that the throat hit is severely harsh if I have had the device turned off for about 4 hours or more. It feels like the PG alone gets vaporised, not the VG. I am using about a 80/20 VG/PG mix (diy mix) with 8mg nicotine.

Is there anything out of the ordinary?

Thanks!

About a week now I guess. Not more than two weeks.
That's about as much life as I've been able to get out of the .3Ω coils on that tank running in the 30W range. Have never had the same experience with harsh hits after it's been sitting for a while though. Could perhaps it be the flavor you're vaping?

It may be the juice, or at least a variable of the juice your using. Ive always had the same issue on my sub ohms, ive even had it happen leaving an RDA coil soaked overnight, which leads me to believe it may be related to oxidation. I could be wrong, after all its happend once. hehe anyway I bought some lost art liquids Slotter pop yesterday and this morning when i hit the tank expecting my morning kick in the throat.... smooth as a dolphins pink belly... Im using the Elite II tank from Sigelei with TC coils on an Istick TC40w

I think it's the juice indeed, its some €3,- juice from my local vape store which doesn't even state the VG/PG ratio.. And I mix that with 86VG lol. I must admit that if I blew on my coils this morning, and the problem was gone in an instant! Anyways, my Aromamizer RDTA should arrive this week, so it's not my top priority anymore. Thanks for your answers everybody!

UPDATE: I have got my Capella flavourings in the mail, and I have made a 30/70 PG/VG 3mg mix with a couple of Sweet Strawberry drops, and this is freaking amazing! No more harsh feeling in the morning, and the flavour is very good. And that without steeping! I have made a few batches of other flavours (how long is the recommended steeping period for Capella?) that I will let sit for 2-3 weeks, I can't wait to try those in my Aromamizer when it comes in the mail! Yesterday opened a whole new world into vaping for me! I absolutely hate cigarettes instantly now haha.

yea thats the best thing ive found to combat that first harsh hit from your tank sitting... fire and blow into the mouthpiece to refresh that 6-12 hour old juice thats been sitting on the coil with lots of little oxygen particles joining the party....assuming oxidation is a part of the unpleasant yuckyness lol

I think so too. That's probably also the reason that coils "expire" in about a week ;)

and another smooth first-morning hit! I hope this isnt a fluke or something cuz its like a blessing... I finally got some 100% VG so maybe next time i have that with a juice ill try cutting it, worth a shot! and is it just me or do TC coils last twice as long as reg sub ohm?
I think you are right! Never actually looked into that. I have been using the same coil for about two weeks now, but it's really starting to taste different. Oh well, my RDTA is coming in the mail tomorrow.

nice, just out of curiosity how do you like the TC60w? ive got the tc40w and would like to upgrade but i was thinkin more along the lines of 100-120 watt...

Sorry for my late reply! Weekend took me down ;) I personally suggest upgrading to a 100w+ device indeed, as I find myself struggling to deal with the 60w limit. It is a very good device though IMO.
